Stacey Solomon has said she leaves a “very sexist” household chore to her husband Joe Swash.
The Sort Your Life Out presenter, 34, is known as a clean queen, and has been routinely praised for getting stuck into household jobs. However, there is one chore that mum-of-five absolutely refuses to do, leaving ex-EastEnders star Joe to get on with it.
Being parents to five children and living in a luxurious Essex mansions means there is a lot to clear up, Stacey admitted. But luckily for the former X Factor star, she has devised a way that helps to split the housework equally between her and her partner.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she explained: “It’s probably very sexist but Joe does do the bins – he does all that heavy stuff. It’s probably 50/50 on things like clearing out the dishwasher filter he does some of that because I hate it!”
Opening up on the stress of maintaining the house, Stacey confessed that she is often the one responsible for the kids, including school drop-offs and other sporting events. She does this all while being able to keep herself going with a high-intensity workout routine, and a slew of pets to look after at their Pickle Cottage.
But the BBC host confirmed that due to the fast-paced life that the family runs, it takes a whole family effort to have everything together. “I have a very high-traffic household,” Stacey admitted.
“My life is just so ad-hoc, so I have to set myself goals at the time, depending on what’s happening,” the Loose Women star added. “And then I ask family and people to help. For example, if my dad’s looking after the kids, I’m like, ‘Dad, please load the dishwasher for me.’ – everyone has to chip in.”
Despite the chaos that comes of having five children in the house, oldest sons Zach, 16, and Leighton, 12, are regularly roped in to take on some added work. This includes looking after the younger kids: Rex, 5; Rose, 2 and Belle, 1.
Looking at her family dynamic, Stacey says that having Zach and Leighton around is like having two extra adults to help around the house. She insisted: “It’s always helpful when one of the teenagers is like, ‘OK, give me Rex, you take Rose and Joe can take Belle,’ we can all share the parenting a little – people might think that’s right or wrong, but it’s just how we do it.”
Looking ahead to the holiday season, Stacey admitted she already has big plans and is already getting stuck in with her homemade decorations. This includes a spooky twist on things in the run-up to Halloween next month, with the transformation already taking place.
“So far, I’ve decorated the bedroom and I’ve done the mantlepiece – I’ve started making a cauldron, which I’m enjoying,” she beamed. “I found some leaves on the side of the road the other day that were bright orange; I thought, ‘Oh, I can use them for the front door,’ – I’m such a forager!”
