The release of Liam Payne’s posthumous single with Sam Pounds has been delayed, it has been revealed.
Grammy-winning producer Sam had collaborated with the One Direction star on Do No Wrong, which was originally scheduled for release on Friday, November 1.
Following Liam’s untimely death earlier this month in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sam paid tribute to his friend, describing him as a “happy, funny and talented brother, father and friend”. The producer has now decided to postpone the track, stating “we are all still mourning”.
In a statement on X, he said: “Today I’m deciding to hold ‘Do No Wrong’ and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire).
“Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet. We are all still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to morn in peace and in prayer. We will all wait. With love Sam Pounds.”
Earlier this week, a heartfelt video of Liam, who was part of One Direction, singing the unreleased track was shared online. Sam’s Instagram followers liked and shared the footage, paying their respects to Liam.
Sam has since received praise for his decision to delay the release of Do No Wrong, in which dad-of-one Liam sings: “Nothing come between us but just space and time. As I fall, fall further for you, I can make a lifetime out of just one night. Like there’s nothing just us two.”
Devoted fans flocked to the comments section to express their gratitude to Sam, from North Carolina, for delaying the single’s release out of respect for Liam’s loved ones. One admirer wrote: “Thank you for respecting the family’s wishes; It’s the right thing to do ! Thank you; Thank you, for giving everyone time to mourn and for leaving the decision up to Liam’s family.”
Another fan commented: “Thank you Sam… yes, we’re still crying but we’re always here ready for Liam’s music when the time is right; Thank you for respecting the family’s decision. Hopefully it will see the day of light in better timing.”
The track was a collaboration between Liam and Sam in the months leading up to his tragic passing, which is still under investigation in Buenos Aires.
According to broadcast journalist Paula Varela, “There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed.”
The chilling CCTV footage, believed to be part of a harrowing series, suggests that Liam didn’t intentionally leap from the balcony, according to Ms Varela, 45. Speaking to Socios del Espectaculo on Canal 13, a Buenos Aires-based TV channel, she revealed: “It’s not that he jumped deliberately.
This footage is in the official case files. There’s a lad who’s being investigated, he was working nights at the hotel. He struck up an excellent relationship with Liam.
“He disobeyed an order from the hotel management. What was the order he disobeyed? It was not to take anything into Liam’s room.”
