TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been tipped to be the next James Bond.
Bookies are now taking odds on the former Top Gear presenter turned farmer filling 007’s spook shoes. Leading bookie BetFred has revealed a flurry of interest in the petrol head replacing Daniel Craig.
And despite being 64 and having recently underwent an emergency heart op, the betting firm’s offering 1000/1 on Clarkson becoming 007. BetFred spokesman Peter Spencer said: “Jezza is as good behind the wheel as Bond, and those odds are a licence to thrill for fans fancying a long shot.”

However, a string of Hollywood hunks are tipped to pip Clarkson to the role. English actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the current favourite, with Superman star Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba in the chasing pack.
BetFred’s revealed one punter staked £333 on Taylor-Johnson to get the gig before his odds shrunk. However any payout could still be years away.
Despite Craig’s final Bond outing, No Time to Die, being released three years ago there’s still no sign of another film on the horizon.
Amazon MGM’s Jennifer Salke recently admitted nobody had been lined-up for the role, stating there “was a lot of different ways” producers could go. Peter added: “Who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond is now the longest running betting market in BetFred’s 57-year history.
“We’ve had so many favourites since it launched in 2016, that is has basically become the Hollywood version of the Grand National.
“Someone even put £2 on BetFred founder Fred Done – it is an incredible market but it is wide open.”
It’s been a whole three years since No Time To Die hit the cinemas, and Bond aficionados are awaiting the big reveal of who’ll step into Daniel Craig’s suave shoes as the next 007.
The rumour mill’s in overdrive with whispers that Aaron Taylor-Johnson has snagged the coveted role. If not him, several fans think Henry Cavill is in with a good chance.
Current standing with the bookies see Taylor-Johnson at a comfortable 5-6, with Cavill at a wider price of 7-1. Gladiator star Paul Mescal is the second favourite, at 2-1, according to Odds Checker.
