Curvy Channel 4 star urges ‘eat the sausage rolls’ in spite of winter weight loss

A size 16 star urged people to ‘eat the sausage roll’ ahead of the winter diet onslaught.

Danielle Broadbent, 41, shot to fame when she first appeared on Channel 4’s Naked Beach – a show which propelled the mum to finally love her curvy body.

Since appearing on TV back in 2019, Danielle has used the platform to spread her body positive message and managed to land gigs on the likes of Hits Radio as a presenter.

But before Danielle became the embodiment of confidence and secured panel spots on GMB, she was insecure about the way she looked – something that would heighten around Christmas.

Many people – especially women – can feel the pressure around the festive season to refrain from enjoying themselves due to fears of ‘pigging out’.

Danielle has been in these shoes, but now she’s calling for people to let their hair down and open their fridges this Christmas without feeling the ‘guilt’ of indulgence – or overindulgence.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, Danielle told us: “I’m a body and mindset positive as a person. But I do think, my god, this is my seventh sausage roll – what the hell?

“But I just think, do you know what, I could be knocked over by a bus on Monday at least I was happy full and content with the people I love. Life is so short!

“Some people really do work on their body. I know loads my friends are gym obsessed and they work really hard and can go to gym twice a day, but at Christmas they all pig out because they think ‘I’ve worked bloody hard all year, whether it’s in the gym, whether it’s my job, whether it’s just at home, I deserve this time with my family’.

“We’ll look back on this for years to come because when we’re in our 80s and not giving a s*** what we look like.

“You’ll think back to this time and think, God, I wish I’d enjoyed Christmas rather than being miserable and just calorie counting and not having that last bit of Christmas pudding because I was really worried about what January were going to look like for me.

“Hell no!”

Danielle believes that thinking like this is all to do with mindset and how we perceive life. For years, Danielle was trapped in a cycle of hating the way she looked and even refused to have pictures with her kids.

But, with a mindset change, Danielle’s life started to instantly become better – that and getting her kit off on the Channel 4 programme that saw her starkers on a beach with strangers.

The mum has become a real advocate for people who love and accept their bodies – including around Christmas where mince pies, tubs of chocolate and sausage rolls are aplenty.

Danielle explained: “Christmas is once a year and instead of focusing on ‘good’ and ‘bad’ foods, people need to just realise that food is a massive part of socialising all year round.

“Approach meals with joy, not judgment. It’s once year once a year and no matter what size you are, you deserve to celebrate Christmas.

“You deserve to make them memories and you deserve to be part of that celebration.

“And I just think that, a few indulgences over one holiday season ain’t going to derail your whole health, wouldn’t it be worse to miss out on these experiences?

“Your mental health would be shot at because you feel you and then what you’d probably do is go into a binge overeating because you feel so s*** instead of just getting on with it, and enjoying the celebration, enjoying it all.

“I mean, I just think so many people forget that we’ve worked all year round. They’ve probably been on vigorous gym exercises and vigorous diets. What does it matter if they just have a Christmas season off and enjoy it with family and friend!”
