Coronation Street fans ‘can’t believe it’ as Billy star makes soap announcement

Corrie star Daniel Brocklebank has celebrated a huge milestone on the soap.

The Coronation Street staple, who plays Billy, has now spent 10 years on the ITV soap and wanted to share his achievement with his 169,000 Instagram followers. Billy first appeared after he met Sean Tully and they had a two-year relationship before Billy left Sean for Todd Grimshaw.

Most recently, the star has been engaged in a heart-breaking storyline where he cared for his husband, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), before he passed away from Motor Neurone Disease. Billy and Todd became guardians to Summer Spellman in 2017 when Summer’s adoptive father Drew Spellman, Billy’s ex, requested they look after her during his final months.

Todd vanished in 2018, leaving Billy and Summer residing at 19a Rosamund Street. After finally moving on from Todd, Billy found himself in a two-year relationship with Paul which ended when Todd returned with his manipulative tactics, aiming to break them up.

Billy has been on a grief journey in recent episodes

The couple were set to get married after Todd proposed, but in true Corrie style, Todd’s lies were revealed and Billy was left heartbroken once more. They later made up for Summer’s sake and have maintained a close bond.

It’s been a hard time for Billy, who rekindled his romance with Paul before he tragically passed and has been grieving ever since. But Daniel wanted to take a moment to reflect on his Corrie journey as he’s spent a decade on the cobbles.

The star took to Instagram to share two photos, one from when he first joined the show next to one recently in the same position. He wrote: “Today marks 10 years since I first appeared on @coronationstreet. It really is utterly wonderful to work there.

“I’ve loved every second. I can’t thank everyone at Corrie enough for giving me some of the happiest years of my professional life. Here’s to many more!” His Corrie colleagues were quick off the mark with Harriet Bibby and Sally Carman-Duttine dropping love-struck emojis, while Sair Khan chirped in with a cheery “Happy Corrie birthday Dan!!!”
