Hollywood star Orlando Bloom and singer Katy Perry have reportedly split after nine years together, but Orlando was seen celebrating Jeff Bezos’ wedding with Lauren Sánchez
Orlando Bloom was spotted flying solo at Jeff Bezos’ wedding celebrations.
The Lord of the Rings star, 48, has reportedly split from singer Katy Perry, 40, after nine years together. The pair got engaged in 2019 and share four-year-old daughter Daisy.
Orlando was spotted climbing into a taxi boat with while leaving the Gritti Palace Hotel in Venice with other guests. He flashed a “peace” sign to onlookers and wore a crisp white button-down shirt with khaki slacks.
The Hollywood heartthrob is one of the many stars attending the US tech billionaire’s wedding to TV presenter Lauren Sánchez. The former Amazon boss is throwing a lavish three-day party in Venice starting on Thursday to celebrate their nuptials, and A-listers such as Mick Jagger, Kim Kardashian and Leonardo DiCaprio are rumoured to be there.
It comes after it was revealed Orlando was “now a single man” and tipped the actor to make his “debut” at Bezos’ wedding. A source told TMZ: “He’s the life of the party and he’s gonna hit the dance floor hard!”
A source told US Weekly of the break-up: “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” adding that the break-up was “not contentious” at this time. “Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life,” they added.
The source said the split was “a long time coming” and that things between them has been “tense for months”. Katy was one of the all-female crew on board Bezos’ Blue Origin space flight in April that lasted 11 minutes.
However, Bezos’ million-dollar bash has been derailed by protestors in the Italian city. He’s been forced to relocate his wedding celebrations after backlash from furious residents who threatened to blockade the city’s historic canals with inflatable crocodiles.
The 61-year-old had planned to host their main celebrationat the 16th-century Scuola Grande della Misericordia, but he’s now moved the event to a more secure venue. It’s believed he’s now gathering guests at the Arsenale, further from the centre.
Some protesters vowed to toss inflatables into the canals, blocking celebrity guests from arriving by gondola or water taxi.“This is a big victory for us,” declared Tommaso Cacciari, a member of the No Space for Bezos protest group. “Who would have thought that we could change the plans of one of the richest men on the planet?”
It’s believed huge names such as Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Salma Hayek Pinault, Sir Elton John, and Lady Gaga are expected at the wedding, among others. Sánchez has said she’s planning the wedding like “every other bride” and even joked on the Today show last year: “I have to say, I do have a Pinterest.”
Earlier this week, Greenpeace and the campaign group Everyone Hates Elon staged a protest in St Mark’s Square. They revealed a banner that read: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax.”Clara Thompson, a Greenpeace campaigner, said: “While Venice is sinking under the weight of the climate crisis, billionaires are partying like there is no tomorrow on their mega-yachts.”
