The Voice coach Meghan Trainor's dad 'hospitalised after being struck by car'

The Voice coach Meghan Trainor’s dad Gary was reportedly hit by a car on Friday afternoon while crossing the road.

According to TMZ, the band teacher was struck while crossing a busy road by foot in the San Fernando Valley.

Meghan’s father was reportedly taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, where his condition was declared as stable.

Gary will reportedly return to full health after the alleged accident, without any serious injuries.

It is unknown at this stage whether the police are looking into the incident, and no comment has been made on the description of the driver.

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter is close to her father and credits him with her early introduction to music.

A piano player himself, it is thought Gary showed Meghan the ropes when it came to creating her own songs.

Gary’s producing skills were lent to two of Meghan’s early EPs – her tracks Cupid and Tumble, which featured on her EP Only 17.

The close father-daughter duo regularly makes red carpet appearances together, and Meghan has spoken about her dad with pride on The Voice.

Just last month, Gary made a surprise appearance on the ITV talent show, coming on stage to meet with judges Olly Murs, Will.i.am and Tom Jones.

The celeb panel urged Gary to head onstage and flex his piano-playing skills, despite his shyness.

As soon as her father started tapping on the keys, Meghan swung her chair around for him.

In a tribute to Sir Tom Jones, Gary played Shake Rattle and Roll on the keyboard, with a little help from the judge’s vocals.

Daily Star Online has contacted Meghan Trainor’s representatives for comment.
