  • Katy Perry Uses Music to Show Her Relationship With Orlando Bloom Is Not Always Perfect

    WENN

The ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ singer says she and her fiance have been through ‘hell’ in their relationship before they are ready to settle down and start a family together.
    Aug 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been through “hell” in their relationship.
The 35-year-old singer is expecting her first child, a daughter, with fiance Orlando. But before the pair reached the happiest point in their romance, they had to get through more than a few problems.
Speaking to Apple Music about her personal life, Katy explained that she took to her songwriting to recount the difficult times, saying, “For us, and you can hear that even in Champagne Problems, which is a song on the record, you can hear that we’re not flaunting how in love we are.”
“We have been through f**king hell. We have been down to the mat and come back up again so far, and that’s even what the song Witness was about: ‘If I lost it all today, would you stay? Could you go down with me to the mat and come back up?’ ”
Now Katy and Orlando have “come back up again” since the tough times, but the “Smile” singer insisted that they both still have to put in the work when it comes to maintaining a happy romance.
“You’ve got to make a choice every day to be in this relationship and to work hard on yourself with someone that’s mirroring you so intensely,” she explained. “Like, he doesn’t let me rest. He’s not Katy Perry’s biggest fan. He’s here for Katheryn Hudson (Katy’s real name). He’s here for building.”
The coronavirus pandemic meant that Katy and Orlando had to put their wedding plans on hold. However, the 35-year-old singer isn’t letting the change of plans get her down, admitting that it reminded her of the fluidity of life.
“For us, it’s about partnership and it’s about, right now, taking it one week at a time,” she said. “We had a whole thing planned and that got canceled, so we’re just looking forward to a healthy arrival at this point in time. It’s funny. It’s like: ‘Don’t make too many plans this year because it’s a real go-with-the-flow time.’ ”

  • Nas Claims He Doesn't Have Hard Feelings for Doja Cat Despite His Diss: 'It's All Love'

    Instagram

The rap legend’s clarification arrives after the ‘Say So’ singer appears to clap back at Nas by revealing that she will be releasing a new song titled ‘NAS’ next week.
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nas is not beefing with Doja Cat. Although the rap legend took a lyrical jab at the “Say So” singer in his black anthem “Ultra Black”, Nas claims in a new interview that he doesn’t harbor any hard feelings for Doja.
“I just really was saying a rhyme that rhymed with ‘ultra black,’ ” Nas explained during his recent appearance on “Power 106” in Los Angeles. “I didn’t even think of it. It’s all love. It was just like, ‘Michael Blackson black’… It’s bars, it’s lines. We play with words.”
Additionally, Nas raved about his new track, saying that it’s “fun.” He also said that the song is about “having a good time.”

Nas sparked buzz after he rapped, “We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically black/ The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson black,” on the said song. It prompted fans to think that he’s referencing to the “Moo!” rapper’s past controversy after a video surfaced showing her joining a group chat full of white supremacists.
Doja herself appeared to clap back at Nas by revealing that she’d be releasing a new song titled “NAS” next week. “If you know what I’m talking about, then you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, you don’t,” she said in an Instagram Live session.
However, the singer made it clear that “NAS” is an acronym rather than a reference to the male rapper’s name. While Doja didn’t reveal what the title stands for, fans assumed that it stands for “N****s Ain’t S**t”.
Prior to that, Doja appeared to be unbothered by the name-drop. On Friday night, August 14, she posted a TikTok video featuring her calmly listening to the new Esco track in the background. “I’m so offended and upset by this song,” she sarcastically said. “Have you guys heard ‘Fruit Salad’ by The Wiggles?”

  • Becky Hill Voices Frustration Over Secondary Treatment of Female Musicians on Radio

    Instagram

The ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’ singer speaks up after learning that male artists receive more 51 per cent airplay than their female counterparts in the United Kingdom.
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Becky Hill is furious a new report reveals female musicians receive significantly less radio airplay than their male counterparts in the U.K.
The Gender Disparity Data report, compiled by music industry consultant Linda Coogan Byrne and Nadia Khan, of Women in CTRL, found that male artists accounted for 51 per cent of the songs given airplay, and mixed-gender collaborations made up 30 per cent, in the period surveyed between 1 January and 15 August.
“Whether it is about what they look like or what they write about in their songs, or how they conduct their day-to-day lives, it would appear that women need to be more than just talented to be accepted and successful,” Hill told The Guardian. “I felt like my voice and songwriting was being used for success, but my name and face were very much treated as secondary to the producer’s fame,” said the singer/songwriter whose male collaborators include Sigala, and Dutch DJs DJ Tiesto and Oliver Heldens.
“This impacted overall public knowledge of my artistry, and so still to this day people don’t recognise my name, yet they know my catalogue.”
The survey also looked at the 20 most played songs by British artists on 31 UK radio stations in the year to 1 June, with just 10 per cent of the most played songs by British artists on BBC Radio 1 and on Radio 6 Music during the 12-month period, by female acts. On BBC Radio 1Xtra the figure was 14.3 per cent and on Radio 2 it was 40 per cent.
Commercial radio stations Bauer Media, Absolute Radio and Kerrang! and Global Media’s Radio X had no female acts among their top 20 most played songs by British artists.
A spokesperson for Radio 1 said the station was “committed to doing more to support and celebrate a diverse range of music across our platforms, from festival slots right through to the playlist, with an average of 45 per cent of playlisted songs featuring female artists”.

  • Katy Perry Tired of Being Pitted Against Fellow Female Artists

    Apple Music

The ‘Smile’ singer is frustrated by fans who are constantly trying to stir up controversy by comparing her to fellow female singers like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry hates constantly being pitted against other female singers by fans.
The “Roar” hitmaker, who famously feuded with Taylor Swift before they called a truce, complained to Zane Lowe on his Apple Music podcast that she gets daily comments comparing her to artists like Taylor, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga, and suggested male singers don’t have the same struggle.
“We never see Niall Horan and Shawn Mendes fighting, you don’t read about Ed Sheeran… and Justin Bieber fighting, right? You never hear that. But take any female performer and you hear about it every single day,” the pregnant singer told Zane, reported Metro.
“You wanna read my Twitter comments? No, you don’t, because it’s like, ‘who’s better than who? Who’s skinnier than who? Who’s sold more number ones than who? Who’s doing better this year than who? Who made this much more?’ Ok, well, what about just liking the music? Why is it about… why?”
While she admitted she is competitive, Katy insisted she is “not competitive with women.”
“I truly just want every single female in the industry to feel supported and loved and feel like they can speak their truth and deliver their message no matter how many of us women are in the industry.”
She added, “There’s only five other people in the world that are going through this and you’re in the same room, can we please just have some f**king wine and talk about how hard this is?”
    [embedded content]
Katy and Taylor initially fell out when the “Bad Blood” singer accused her of stealing three of her backing dancers for her tour. But Katy insisted she wants nothing but the best for her fellow female star.
“It’s hard for young girls growing up (with) cliques and high school and pettiness and all that stuff, so now we’re super friendly.”

  • Ronnie Wood Angry as Rolling Stones Album and Tour Get Delayed Due to Covid-19

    Instagram

The guitarist opens up about his frustrations as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic forced his band to put on hold their projects including a new studio album and tour.
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ronnie Wood is furious the Covid-19 pandemic is delaying a new Rolling Stones album and tour.
The rock legends were forced to postpone their “No Filter” tour in March (20), and scale back work on a new album – only being able to complete a single, “Living in a Ghost Town”, remotely from 2019 sessions.
Raging about the pandemic, and governments’ failures to take control, he tells British newspaper The Times that he doesn’t understand why live music has been hard hit by regulations.
“This Covid is not a joke,” he fumes. “It’s really p**sing me off. Nobody seems to know about it, nobody seems to be its boss, everyone seems lost. You could go to a restaurant and it was packed and yet you weren’t allowed to go to a concert. What’s that about? I’ve lost faith in not having any direction from people who should know. So yes, I’m impatient to get going.”
Discussing how the pandemic has delayed the album, he adds, “It’s just on the front burner, it was almost there when lockdown happened,” going on to say that the group miss being together in the studio and touring as they do not see much of each other socially.
“We are a touring band. And we miss it. We miss being together as a band,” he explains. “But right now, until we can get going again, we are staying in contact and just hanging in there doing our own things.”
However, he does put the Stones’ longevity down to rationing their time together.
“We don’t try to overexamine too much of the magic that goes on. We never see a lot of each other between tours,” the 73-year-old reveals. “We enjoy getting together to rehearse when it happens, but we don’t saturate – that’s probably why we get on. We don’t overexamine the magic of our relationship.”
