The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker has cut short his hiatus following his latest ‘Divide Tour’ to help up-and-coming artist Jeremy Loops work on a new studio album.
    Jun 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ed Sheeran has been in the studio helping up-and-coming music star Jeremy Loops work on a new album.
The “Shape of You” hitmaker told fans back in December 2019 he was taking time out from music after wrapping his mammoth two-year “Divide Tour” – but, according to Jeremy, he broke his hiatus to help the rising star out on his record.
The South African singer told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “I arrived early in the morning and we worked all day on a few different songs.”
“He’s known to be a very fast writer. He’s very fluid and moves quickly,” the hitmaker continued. “He can work with whoever he wants, so there’s something beautiful about the fact that he wanted to work with me.”
He added, “I couldn’t have called him and been like, ‘Yeah, I want to work together, like, get ready.’ ”
The new record will be Jeremy’s third – he’s already released 2014 debut “Trading Change” and the 2018 follow-up, “Critical as Water”.
Meanwhile, Ed has finally got some rest during the coronavirus lockdown, with reports suggesting he’s been taking up numerous new hobbies, including gardening, beekeeping, and brewing beer for his pub in Suffolk, England.

  • Pet Shop Boys' Classic Hit 'West End Girls' Crowned as Greatest No. 1 Single in U.K.

The single released in 1984 by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe has been named the greatest number one song in the United Kingdom, beating the classic tracks by The Beatles and Donna Summer.
    Jun 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pet Shop Boys’ debut single “West End Girls” has been named the greatest U.K. number one single by The Guardian.
The classic track topped the publication’s run-down of 100 classic hits, beating out Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)”, Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love”, The Beatles’ “She Loves You”, and The Specials’ “Ghost Town”, which ranked from fifth to second place, respectively.
Reflecting on bagging the top spot, singer Neil Tennant confessed he never would have predicted the end result, admitting, “I would have chosen Good Vibrations. It’s obviously intensely subjective.”
“I can see that West End Girls is quite a lot of records in one record,” he explained. “It’s a dance record. It was actually written to be a rap record, back in the day. It’s a moody soundscape. It’s about the city at night. It’s about boys and girls meeting to have fun and presumably to bond.”
The “Go West” singer continued, “It’s about sex. It’s paranoid. At the same time, its message is sort of like Dancing in the Streets – it’s about escape into the city at night, which is emblematic of pleasure.”
The full top 100 from The Guardian is available to view here.

  • SAINt JHN Calls Off Video Shoot and Donates the Money for Black Lives Matter Cause

    Instagram

The ‘Roses’ rapper has decided to cancel his music video shoot and use the money meant for the project to support the activists protesting racial injustice.
    Jun 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rising hip-hop star SAINt JHN has ditched plans to film a music video for his new collaboration with rapper Future in favour of using the budget to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
The pair had been due to get together to shoot a promo for the remix of Saint Jhn’s breakout hit “Roses”, but the Brooklyn, New York native reveals he decided the money would be better served helping to bail out activists arrested during ongoing U.S.-wide demonstrations following the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed at the hands of a white police officer on May 25, 2020.
In a notepad post on Instagram, Saint Jhn explains he managed to convince Hitco Entertainment co-founder Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid to boost his budget from $60,000 to $100,000 and allow him to use the funds as he pleased – and the music mogul obliged.
“I asked him to give me the video budget and don’t ask what I’m gonna do with it. He agreed. That’s legendary s**t,” Saint Jhn wrote. “We should never be afraid to do the right thing!”
He went on to reveal he was bumping the donation up to $125,000 and splitting it between a bail out organisation and “black owned businesses affected right now.”
“I don’t got no speeches, I ain’t a speech n**ga (sic),” the 33 year old declared in the accompanying caption. “People are hurt and I feel them, period.”
Saint Jhn joins the likes of The Weeknd, Chrissy Teigen, Steve Carell, and Seth Rogen to pledge donations to bail out protesters.
