On Thursday, June 4, the “What Ifs” hitmaker released “Worldwide Beautiful” with the hope that it could bring people together during these difficult times in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
In an Instagram announcement he made hours prior to the release, the 26-year-old crooner explained that he had been holding onto this song produced by Dann Huff for a year. He added that all proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club of America to advocate for justice and equality for the millions of youth.

“Worldwide Beautiful” came out hot on the heels of Brown’s new single “Cool Again”. It is expected to be included on the “Homesick” singer’s upcoming album.
Brown has previously talked about the song. During an interview with Billboard in November 2019, the father of one teased, “I got a song called ‘Worldwide Beautiful’ – this is also my tour name.” He elaborated, “It’s a song about meaning. It brings up color, that I’m really excited about. I’m really excited to show it to the world.”
In regards to the protests over the death of George Floyd that have taken over the country, Brown first shared his thought on Twitter. “We will never see peace in this world until we ALL see each other as PEOPLE,” he tweeted. “We will never understand each other when you have people on 2 different sides. We have to become 1 to be at peace.”

The “Lose It” singer later shared a capture of the tweet on his Instagram account. Along with it, he wrote, “I’ve been trying to think of how to say this as easy as possible and not be bashed because of the different sides. I hate confrontation but this is the truth whether you wanna Believe it or not.” He added, “any questions I’ll answer as many as I can.”

  • 6ix9ine Pushes Back Release of New Song Again Out of Respect for George Floyd Protests

    Instagram

The ‘Gooba’ rapper’s new single along with its music video, which was originally slated to arrive on May 22, is now rescheduled for June 12 in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.
    Jun 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tekashi69 a.k.a. 6ix9ine is honoring the Black Lives Matter movement by postponing the release of his new song. The rapper has announced that his new single, which was originally slated to arrive on May 22, has been pushed back to Friday, June 12 out of respect for the nationwide protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
The New York City artist took to his Instagram page on Wednesday, June 3 to announce the delay. “Music video will be pushed back again to June 12th,” he wrote on a plain black background, adding, “Out of respect for what we are going through right now.”
He added in the caption, “It’s not the time for a music video right now with everything going on in the world. It will be extremely selfish,” before assuring fans that it will finally arrive “JUNE 12TH NEXT FRIDAY.”

The track had been previously postponed twice. In late May, he announced that the song was pushed back another week to this coming Friday, June 5. At that time, he explained that the reason of the delay was simply because the music video was not ready yet.
As with his previous release, details of the new song are still kept under wraps. 6ix9ine has not announced the new single, though he has opened a contest to let fan decide the title of the song. It’s additionally reported that the song will feature Nicki Minaj.
“I’m hearing that @6ix9ine has a new track with @NICKIMINAJ coming out soon – Let us wait,” Power 105.1 radio jock Honey German tweeted last month. The “Anaconda” hitmaker reportedly flew to New York to film the music video at 6ix9ine’s home.
Meanwhile, the “FEFE” hitmaker has been boasting that his new song will break the internet. “NEXT VIDEO WILL BREAK THE INTERNET IM PUSHING IT BACK TILL NEXT FRIDAY MAY 29TH,” he posted on Instagram before postponing the song for the second time.
6ix9ine’s first post-prison song “Gooba” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending May 23 and its music video broke Eminem’s YouTube record for the most-watched hip-hop video in a 24-hour period after it was released on May 8.

  • Amber Riley Belts Out Beyonce's Freedom' During L.A. Protest

    WENN

The former ‘Glee’ actress delivers a powerful rendition of Queen Bey’s hit single when joining fellow protesters during a peaceful Black Lives Matter rally in Los Angeles.
    Jun 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Former “Glee” star Amber Riley called attention to the Black Lives Matter movement with a performance of Beyonce Knowles’s Freedom during a Los Angeles protest on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.
The actress and singer belted out a powerful rendition in an effort to highlight racial inequality and police brutality.
“What an honor. #blacklivesmatter #defundthepolice #prosecutekillercops,” Amber captioned a video of her performance on Instagram. “You have free agency to use every amazing gift you have to fight for truth and justice.”

The 34 year old also took to Twitter to encourage her followers to use their own voices to inspire social justice.
“We all have voices. I don’t care how many followers you have,” she wrote. “All of our voices and how we utilize our platforms is important. If it’s 10 followers, radicalize them, make them believers in themselves, that they can change the world and themselves for the better!”
In another post she added, “Don’t rely on celebrities… Do YOUR part.”
The bold statement comes in the wake of the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed by police in Minnesota on May 25, 2020.
Riley’s performance came amid controversy surrounding her “Glee” co-star Lea Michele’s treatment of African-American guest star Samantha Ware. After Lea tweeted her support of the Black Lives Matter movement, Ware hit back by accusing the screen star of making her life a “living hell” when she bullied her on set and alleged Lea even threatened to “s**t in her wig.”
Following Samantha’s tweet, two other “Glee” castmates came forward to validate her story, while Amber and Melissa Benoist both weighed in by liking tweets about the scandal. Michele has since apologised for her bad behaviour.

  • YG Drops Anti-Police Song on Blackout Tuesday After Canceling Protest Appearance

    Instagram

The ‘Toot It and Boot It’ rapper pulls the plug on a planned rally appearance for fears of the safety of the participants and releases an anti-police song instead.
    Jun 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rapper YG pulled out of a planned rally appearance to protest the death of George Floyd in Hollywood, California on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, just before releasing his new track, “F**k the Police”.
Hundreds of fans still showed up to the event, which the “Big Bank” hitmaker, real name Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, promoted on Twitter and Instagram on Monday, writing, “LA meet me. Hollywood Blvd & Vine tomorrow Tuesday 12 noon.”
He later added, “All positive vibes tomorrow. No looting!” But minutes before the rally’s planned start time, YG shared a video on both social media sites, announcing he was cancelling his appearance at the event because he feared for the safety of participants. He added a caption on Instagram, “#F**KTHEPOLICE link in bio, they kant censor me (sic)!”
“So I got bad news,” he said in the footage. “I was told today that my protest is not safe and that people could get hurt or shot and I’m not trying to get none of my people hurt or shot, so I’m going to cancel the date.”
“It’s f**ked up but I’m going to come back bigger and better. I’m a part of the Black Lives Matter and we’re going to do this s**t the right way for the people, the city and for all the artists that want to pop out and participate. But that being said, F**k The Police is out right now, it’s in my bio, I couldn’t wait for the label, so yeah, I’ll see you outside.”
Despite the fact that June 2 had been designated #BlackoutTuesday by entertainment industry chiefs, who agreed to refrain from all promotional activity on the date to support the Black Lives Matter movement, he then dropped the new song on YouTube, apparently without the participation of bosses at Epic Records, with whom YG signed a distribution deal in February 2020.
The track amassed more than 100,000 views in its first hour on the site.

It’s not the 30 year old’s first protest anthem – ahead of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, YG teamed up with the late Nipsey Hussle for the protest anthem “FDT (F**k Donald Trump)”. The song has allegedly been played at many of the U.S. demonstrations in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in the days following the death of 46-year-old African-American man George Floyd, who died at the hands of Minneapolis, Minnesota police officers last week, May 25, 2020.

  • Jamie Foxx Singing While Joining Protesters in San Francisco

    WENN

The ‘Django Unchained’ actor serenades the Black Lives Matter activists with a popular verse from the Bible while joining the protests in San Francisco, California.
    Jun 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jamie Foxx took the microphone at a rally to protest the killing of George Floyd on Monday, June 1, 2020.
The 52-year-old actor attended the protest in San Francisco, California and, while talking to protesters, Jamie sang a popular verse from Isaiah 54:17, “No weapons formed against me, shall prosper, it won’t work. No weapons formed against me shall prosper.”
The actor also said, “If that man can be handcuffed, if that man sit on that man’s neck for that long and feel comfortable about it, that means that he’s not afraid of what’s going to happen,” referring to the police officer, Derek Chauvin, who was responsible for Floyd’s death.

The Oscar winner previously joined former basketball player Stephen Jackson at a Minneapolis City Hall press conference on Friday, and revealed he wanted to stand up for what was right following African-American Floyd’s death.
“We’re not afraid to stand. We’re not afraid of the moment,” the “Ray” star told reporters. “And I think what you saw on television, to watch this man plead for his life… as I sit with my two daughters, my nephews, who had just come from the grocery store, what it does it over complicates everything as a black man trying to tell his son or his daughter how to function in life.”
“Even the things that we taught them don’t seem to work.”
Chauvin, the cop who kneeled on Floyd’s neck, ending his life, has been arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter. The other three cops remain free.

  • Lil Nas X and Kehlani: Blackout Tuesday Is Dangerous for Black Lives Matter Movement

    WENN

The ”Old Town Road’ hitmaker and the ‘You Know Wassup’ singer agree that the Blackout Tuesday campaign by the music industry is dangerous because it could hinder the real Black Lives Matter activism.
    Jun 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lil Nas X and Kehlani have criticised the music industry’s Blackout Tuesday campaign protesting the murder of George Floyd as a distraction from real activism.
Acts including Rihanna and The Rolling Stones are halting social media promotions on Tuesday, Jun 2, 2020 to join the protests against police brutality and racism that have swept the U.S. since Floyd died when Minnesota policeman Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for eight minutes during an arrest last week.
Record executives, including chiefs at Nas’ label Columbia Records have also backed the campaign – but the “Old Town Road” hitmaker disagrees, calling it “the worst idea ever” in a tweet.
The 21-year-old rapper went on to write that it would have been a better idea for stars and labels to share activist messages and information.
“It’s information that needs to be spread! the movement needs to be pushed forward! not silenced for a day,” he wrote. “I just really think this is the time to push as hard as ever. i don’t think the movement has ever been this powerful. we don’t need to slow it down by posting nothing. we need to spread info and be as loud as ever.”
Making his own suggestion, he added, “Not tryna be announcing but what if we posted donation and petitions links on instagram all at the same time instead of pitch black images,” before expressing fear the blackout images would take over social media hashtags used to discuss the protests.
Kehlani also criticised the campaign as costing companies nothing and co-opting the original #TheShowMustBePaused initiative started by two black women, Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang.
“Tuesdays not a big deal,” she tweeted. “no releases should come out at all for the week s**t maybe for the month. and if they do, these companies need to pledge to giving the Black artists who release ALL THE MONEY MADE FROM IT (sic). f**k it.”
