Ariana Grande Finds Lady GaGa's Hands-On Approach to Their Collaboration 'Awesome'

    Instagram

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, the ‘Thank You, Next’ hitmaker talks about working together with the ‘Born This Way’ singer on their new single ‘Rain on Me’.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande had a great time working with Lady GaGa on their new single “Rain on Me”, revealing the “Poker Face” singer was hands-on when it came to all aspects of the collaboration.
The “thank u, next” singer had no idea what to expect when she signed on to work with GaGa and now reveals it was one of the most fulfilling collaborations.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music on Friday (May 22), Ariana said, “She does do a really fantastic job riding that line of being like, ‘Hey, it is what it is’, but also, like, ‘I’m going to give you a f**king show, and I’m going to pick every color that’s on the screen – every lighting, every shot, every wig that every dancer is wearing. Every, everything. I’m going to pick, I’m going to help Ari with picking her make-up and her hair…’ ”
“It’s awesome. I really love seeing her have the point of view, and such gentleness at the same time. And respect for another artist at the same time.”
Grande also admitted she loved enjoying pure pop moments with her new pal, “It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and, like, straight pop again, because I do feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve done something that poppy, and that’s funny because I am a pop person, but it’s just, everyone knows that my heart is kind of rooted in the R&B influence music that I make, and that’s where my heart is, but it just felt so good and fun and happy to dip a toe into her world a little bit, and to try this on for size.”
“The video is so GaGa and so fun. I had so much fun. I was like, ‘I’ve never dressed like this in my life. I’m just having the best time.’ ”

Doja Cat Appears to Defend Lana Del Rey's Controversial Instagram Post in Cryptic Tweet

    Instagram/WENN

Meanwhile, after multiple clarifications, the ‘Born to Die’ singer is constantly trying to explain her true intentions with her controversial remarks as she is accused of racism.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Doja Cat might be the only one musician whom Lana Del Rey mentioned in her controversial Instagram post that publicly reacted to it. Fans noticed that the “Say So” hitmaker wrote a cryptic message on her Twitter account before quickly deleting it, prompting fans to assume that it was her response to Lana’s anti-feminist rant.
The said tweet read, “Gang sunk that dunker.” The post wasn’t up for too long since Doja removed it immediately. The singer, however, wrote part of the phrase in another tweet on Friday, May 22, saying, “Gang ______________. (Complete it).” Additionally, she changed her Twitter handle to “GANG?”.

Doja Cat wrote a cryptic message.

Doja went with cryptic tweet and Twitter name
Fans, however, were struggling to decipher the meaning of Doja’s tweet. According to a fan, “gang, meaning a friend and in this place referencing Lana. So Lana sunk, as in she landed, and dunker meaning the point trying to get across, (Imagine dunker meaning truth bomb). So Lana’s points were made.” Should this interpretation be true, Doja is definitely in team Lana.
Meanwhile, Lana is constantly trying to explain her true intentions with her remarks as she is accused of racism. After multiple clarifications, the “Born to Die” singer posted on Friday on her Instagram account “a couple of final notes on my ‘controversial post’ that’s not controversial at all.”
“Despite the feedback I’ve heard from several people that I mentioned in a complimentary way, whether it be [Ariana Grande] or Doja Cat – I want to say that I remain firm in my clarity and stance in that what I was writing about was the importance of self advocacy for the more delicate and often dismissed, softer female personality, and that there does have to be room for that type in what will inevitably become a new wave/3rd wave of feminism that is rapidly approaching. Watch!” she added.
“Perhaps I could’ve given more context to my post by mentioning the title of the second book that would be out next March called ‘behind the iron gates- insights from an institution’,” she continued. “I’m sorry that the folks who I can only assume are super trump/pence supporters or hyper liberalism or flip-flopping headline grabbing critics can’t read and want to make it a race war, when in fact the issue was with *female critics and *female alternative artists who are dissociated from their own fragility and sexuality and berate more sexually liberated artists like muself and the women i mentioned.”
“My aim and my messages are clear. That I have control of my own story. If the women I mentioned don’t wanna be associated with me that’s absolutely fine by me,” Lana concluded.

Prior to this, Lana insisted that she mentioned Nicki Minaj, Beyonce Knowles, Camila Cabello, Kehlani, Doja and Ariana in her original post out of admiration. “To be clear because I knowwwwww you love to twist things. I f***ing love these singers and know them. #that is why I mentioned them I would also like to have some of the same freedom of expression without judgment of hysteria,” she explained. “the singers I mentioned are my favorite singers. so if you want to try and make a bone to pick out of that like you always do be my guest.”

Halsey Calls New Album a Love Letter to Her Bipolar Disorder

    Instagram

The ‘Without Me’ singer says she made peace with her mental illness during the making of her third studio album appropriately called ‘Manic’ which was released in January.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halsey has opened up about accepting her bipolar disorder in a new YouTube series for Mental Health Awareness Month, May 2020.
The “Without Me” singer took part in the Artist Spotlight Stories with psychologist Snehi Kapur and discussed finally making peace with herself after being diagnosed in her teens and experiencing drastic moodswings.
“In the process of making this album, I had to make peace with this manic version of myself,” she said of recording her latest release, Manic, which reached listeners in January, noting the album is a “love letter” to bipolar disorder.
Halsey, who was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for a 17-day stay after attempting suicide at the aged of 17, moved on to discuss the difficult social problems she’s had to navigate while managing her own mental health. “I think that our culture, in a way, has an obsession and a distaste for the ‘crazy woman,’ ” she said. “We love her but we also weaponise that word against her… The way that they (media) can take the narrative away from you after you’ve chosen to share it is what’s one of the most terrifying parts.”
Halsey is also often puzzled by fans who insist she doesn’t look like someone with mental health struggles. “They see a young woman who’s achieving all of these goals,” she explained.

    May 23, 2020

The “Fancy” hitmaker is rumoured to have welcomed her first child with MC boyfriend Playboi Carti at the end of April 2020 and although she has yet to comment on the baby hearsay, the star has verified she is in the studio working on her third LP.
Iggy wrote in response to a fan on Twitter who inquired if she was in Los Angeles, California recording an album, “Yes & Yes.”
The Australian star released her sophomore effort “In My Defense” last year to poor critical reviews and low sales, with the album debuting at number 50 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
DJ Akademiks was the first to publicly acknowledge rumours of Iggy becoming a mother on May 1 when he told his Instagram followers, “Talked to some ppl (people)… allegedly this is true. Congrats to #playboicarti and #iggyazalea if it is.”
Neither Iggy nor Playboi have commented on the baby news. Azalea continues to post images of herself on her Instagram account donning clothing that bares her trim belly, suggesting pushback on talks of parenthood.

Tegan and Sara Would Rather Be Called 'Sell-Out' Than Do 'Free' Gig on Social Media

    WENN

Sara Quin says she and her sister and bandmate Tegan refuse to follow the livestream trend and do free concerts only to generate money for social media.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tegan and Sara rocker Sara Quin won’t be joining the new livestream gig trend as she doesn’t want to work for social media platforms for free.
The Canadian musician and her sister and bandmate Tegan have been keeping in touch with fans during the Covid-19 pandemic by broadcasting insights into their lives as a weekly show, “Where Does the Good Grow?”, on Instagram Live.
However, Sara says fans can’t expect any livestream concerts as she objects to generating money for social media sites by performing on their platforms.
“My hesitation is that it’s a form of labour we do for free that is generating money for Instagram and Facebook and Twitch,” the musician tells The Guardian newspaper. “I know it’s not cool to be a sell-out and to say you need money and you want your fans to pay for things, but I feel as artists we need to be comfortable being transparent about that.”
The “Closer” hitmaker went on to say that while she is fine with others using the internet to perform, it’s not for her.
“I’m inspired by people doing livestreams and making content, but I don’t feel inspired to do it, because I hate playing concerts to people holding up their cellphones, and I don’t want to play a concert to my cellphone,” the 39-year-old explains.
Sara also complains that global restrictions on concerts due to the pandemic have “f**ked* the band’s “ecosystem” by putting their team out of work, and complained about the rates artists receive from streaming services.
“Instead of asking consumers to solve the problem, the industry needs to have a reckoning about the way we value music, and that needs to be platform-wide,” she adds.
