Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes Bid Farewell to 'The Flash' After Seven Seasons

    The CW

The original stars of The CW series will not be returning for an eighth season while fellow castmates Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker are negotiating new deals.

    May 5, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Original “The Flash” castmates Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes have exited the show ahead of its eighth season.

Cavanagh, who played Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Harrison Wells on the long-running show, was slated to end his tenure as a series regular at the end of season seven, according to Deadline, but the pandemic forced him to quit the show before filming his swansong episode, and Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon, will end his run with an appearance in the season seven finale.

“Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons, and will be greatly missed,” “The Flash” executive producer and showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement to Deadline. “Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love, which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.”

Among their fellow original castmates, Grant Gustin is contracted to return as Barry Allen/The Flash for season eight, while Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker are negotiating new deals.

Cavanagh himself seemed to have hinted at his exit back in February 2020. At the time, he put out a reflective post about his time with the series. “It has been a joy creating and playing the myriad Wells that make up ‘Wells st’ on #theFlash,” he captioned his post.

“At times brusque, sunny, capricious, and perpetually shameless, they will always be linked by a single unbreakable thread of gratitude,” the 57-year-old continued sharing his thought. “My thanks to everyone on all sides of the screen that makes up this wee superhero show of ours. ”

    Instagram

Meanwhile, ‘The Predator’ actor Keegan-Michael Key and ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ star Anya Taylor-Joy have been set to host the final episodes of the NBC show’s current season.

    May 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Olivia Rodrigo, Keegan-Michael Key, Anya Taylor-Joy and Lil Nas X have been set for two final episodes of “Saturday Night Live” season 46. On Monday, May 3, the long-running NBC show announced that “The Predator” actor and the “Driver License” songstress will appear as the host and the musical guest for an upcoming episode on May 15.

Meanwhile, “The Queen’s Gambit” breakout star will host the finale on May 22. Joining Anya, the Grammy-winning rapper will serve musical performance in the forthcoming episode. “Final eps of Season 46!” the account for “SNL” wrote alongside the show’s signature post-it note pictures revealing the lineup and the schedule.

Olivia expressed her excitement in the comment section of the post. “ive literally never been so excited in my whole life,” the “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” star wrote.

Prior to this, Olivia was featured in a viral sketch of the show. In the February episode, “Bridgerton” star Rege-Jean Page, who hosted the show, played a guy who hung out with some of his friends at a bar where Olivia’s hit single “Drivers License” was played on the jukebox. “I gotta hear that freaking bridge again, man,” one of them said before they sang along to the song.

Olivia, who turned 18 that day, took to her Twitter account to share her excitement. “DRIVERS LICENSE SNL SKETCH IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER IM SHAKING,” so she wrote on Twitter following the episode.

She further addressed the skit in a March interview. “I was absolutely floored. I was screaming. I think being made fun of and parodied on ‘SNL’ is the biggest compliment in the whole world, so that was so surreal,” she said.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think that they were going to do a ‘Driver’s License’ sketch where they played the entirety of ‘Driver’s License’,” she went on saying. “And Pete Davidson, who is my biggest celebrity crush, was singing it and comparing me to Taylor Swift, who is my idol. It was just insane. It was on my 18th birthday too, so it was just a crazy day.”

'Sex and the City' Reboot Gets Three Women of Color Added to Cast Ensemble

HBO Max CCO Casey Bloys says that executive producers Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King did not want to tell a story that is not reflective of the way New York looks today.

    May 4, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
The “Sex and the City” reboot won’t be as white as the original series, thanks to the addition of three new black female characters.

“And Just Like That…” will be a lot more diverse than “Sex and the City”, which has been criticized for its largely white cast, according to a new report.

Responding to the TV Line story, HBO Max CCO Casey Bloys says, “We are trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York, so it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”

      See also…

“They [executive producers Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King didn’t want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast as it’s not reflective of New York. So they are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today.”

Parker will be returning as Carrie Bradshaw, alongside Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, and John Corbett will reprise his role as Aidan Shaw, but Kim Cattrall and Chris Noth won’t be back for the new show. Cattrall had repeatedly stated that she has no interest in reprising her iconic Samantha Jones role.

News about the reboot’s diverse cast came around three months after HBO Max unveiled that non-white scribes have been added to the series’ official writing team. Comedian/author Samantha Irby, “Fresh Off the Boat” writer Rachna Fruchbom and “Reversing Roe” producer Keli Goff are joining showrunner Michael Patrick King and veteran writers Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky.

Kim Kardashian is ready to move on. Amid her marital woes with estranged husband Kanye West. In a new mid-season teaser trailer for “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” season 20 which was obtained by E! News, the SKIMS founder opens up about how the split affects her mental state.

Kim and her mom Kris Jenner appear to discuss the former’s marital issues after Kim cries to sister Kendall Jenner that she “feels like a loser” due to the marital drama. In attempt to comfort Kim, Kris says to her, “I just want you to be happy and joyful.” To that, Kim replies, “Yeah, and I’m ready too.”

The teaser also sees Khloe Kardashian considering to follow in Kim’s steps by having a baby via surrogate. “Your sister has done it before so it’s not foreign to us,” Khloe’s baby daddy and boyfriend Tristan Thompson tells her. In a confessional, Khloe seemingly still has doubts about surrogacy as she wonders if it “is really going to work for me and my family.”

Tristan isn’t the only one who tries to convince the Good American Jeans founder that surrogacy may be the best option for her who tries to have a baby No. 2 with the Boston Celtics player. “There is nothing that I would love more than to see you grow old with the dad of your children,” Kris tells Khloe, referring to Tristan with whom Khloe shares her first child True Thompson.

In addition to the baby plan, the couple adjusts to long distance relationship as Tristan signed to the Boston Celtics back in November.

Elsewhere in the promo, Kim is giving older sister Kourtney Kardashian some advice about Scott Disick. “Think about all the times he’s had big change, [it] hasn’t been positive for him,” Kim says to Kourtney. 'American Idol': Viewers Are Enraged After Fan-Favorite Is Eliminated Following a Twist

    ABC

On the Disney Night, the Top 10 of the current season 19 hit the stage to sing Disney classics with host Ryan Seacrest announcing Arthur Gunn, the runner-up of season 18, as the Comeback winner.

    May 3, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“American Idol” aired its new episode on Sunday, May 2. On the Disney Night, the Top 10 of the current season 19 hit the stage to sing Disney classics with host Ryan Seacrest announcing Arthur Gunn, the runner-up of season 18, as the Comeback winner.

Kicking off that night was Willie Spence as he sang a powerful take on “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King”. Judge Lionel Richie thought his “delivery is just so incredible.” Following it up was Deshawn Goncalves who took the stage to sing “When You Wish Upon a Star” from “Pinocchio”. Katy Perry noted that the performance showed his “real, true growth.”

Later, Casey Bishop offered a rendition of “When She Loved Me” from “Toy STory 2”. Katy totally loved the performance, telling Casey that her “vocals will take you to infinity and beyond.” Chayce Beckham, meanwhile, opted to perform an alt-rock version of “Baby Mine” from “Dumbo”.

Alyssa Weay followed it up with a stunning performance of “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” from “Cinderella”. Katy and Lionel loved it as they called the performance “amazing,” “elegant and elevated.” Arthur, meanwhile, performed his own version of “Remember Me” from “Coco”. “That was one of your best performances I’ve ever seen,” Luke raved.

Cassandra Coleman sang “Go the Distance” from “Hercules” which earned her compliments from the judges. Hunter Metts chose to sing his mom’s favorite song, “You’ll Be In My Heart” from “Tarzan”. Rounding out the night, Grace Kinstler belted out “Into the Unknown” from “Frozen II”.

When it was time for eliminations, Ryan revealed that Chayce, Casey, Willie, Hunter, Caleb, Grace and Arthur were the Top 7 advancing to the next round. Deshawn, Alyssa and Cassandra were unfortunately eliminated.

The decision, however, was opposed by some viewers. “Caeb & Hunter over Alyssa & DeShawn? WOW! Arthur Gunn is amazing. He shouldn’t get the blow back from AI’s poor decisions either. It’s not his fault. #AmericanIdol should have brought former contestants back NEXT season. It’s UNFAIR to this season’s contestants & Arthur too!” one person tweeted.

“Boooooooooooo!!! Alyssa should have made it. Not Arthur!!! He had his chance last year. So wrong!! #americanidol,” another user opined. “Alyssa and deshaun ??????? GONE??? This is bs and Arthur goes thru?? He’s from last year he had his chance #AmericanIdol,” one unhappy fan added.

Calling it “the single WORST idea #americanidol has ever had,” another person said, “So beyond unfair! ARTHUR GUNN NEEDS TO GO!!! Alyssa Ray sang CIRCLES around him!”
