Liam Gallagher’s angry foul-mouthed rant at ‘fat’ Oasis fans after council’s ‘rowdy’ jibe

Oasis fans have been branded “fat, drunk and rowdy” by Edinburgh City Council, leading lead singer Liam Gallagher to fume ‘£1billion we’re bringing to this city over the next three days. £1billion’15:54, 09 Aug 2025Updated 16:09, 09 Aug 2025Liam Gallagher hit out at Edinburgh City Council(Image: Getty)Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher launched a scathing, expletive-laden attack on Edinburgh City Council as the band arrived in Scotland for their Murrayfield performances. Taking the stage on Friday (August 8) for Oasis’ first Scottish gig since 2009, Liam lashed out at council officials in front of a crowd of 70,000 people after they described fans as “fat, drunk and rowdy”.According to The Scottish Sun, freedom of information requests for safety briefing documents obtained prior to the reunion shows revealed that officials were concerned that the 210,000 attendees across three nights posed a threat to the concurrent Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The documents stated that the council anticipated “medium to high intoxication” and a “substantial amount of older fans” who were “already rowdy”.Additionally, there were concerns about the “tone of the band”, with warnings that “Middle-aged men take up more room. Consider this when working out occupancy.”Liam’s explicit rant on Friday night expressed his outrage. He said: “One second, where do I start here with everyone at the city council, the f***ing slags? ! £1billion we’re bringing to this city over the next three days. £1billion.”, reports the Express.Oasis fans at Murrayfield Stadium were in good spirits (Image: Getty)He continued: “But you won’t see any of it because the Lord Provost will be splitting it between [his] posh ugly f***ing mates.”Liam then demanded an apology from the council, stating that Oasis is “still waiting for a f***ing apology” following the comments made in October last year.He took to Twitter to express his outrage, posting: “To the Edinburgh council, I’ve heard what you said about Oasis fans and quite frankly your attitude f***ing stinks, I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot. I’d love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council, bet there’s some real STUNNING individuals.”David Walker, spokesman for the Oasis Collectors Group, chimed in: “To call fans drunk, middle-aged, and fat is a nasty, sneering stereotype, it’s a jaundiced view.”Oasis held their first reunion event in Scotland yesterday (Image: Gareth Cattermole, Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images)However, Margaret Graham, the council’s culture and communities convener, defended their stance to The Sun, stating: “We’re very proud to host the biggest and best events in Edinburgh throughout the year, which bring in hundreds of millions of pounds to the local economy and provide unparalleled entertainment for our residents and visitors.”As with any major event which takes place in the city, we prepare extensively alongside our partners to ensure the safety and best possible experience of everyone involved – and Oasis are no different.”Article continues belowIn a twist of events, a comedian has now blamed the band after his Fringe Festival set was met with an empty audience. Inside £2M house Oasis made iconic album from Noel cricket bat attack to smashing Hitler

The Old Sawmills, in Cornwall, is a secluded studio where Oasis recorded their landmark 1994 release Definitely Maybe. The property is on sale for nearly £2mVince Soodin Assistant Editor (Digital) and SWNSFilipaGaspar (Filipa Gaspar)13:00, 09 Aug 2025Historic house boasts studioA historic house boasting a recording studio where Oasis crafted their debut album has hit the market with a hefty price tag of nearly £2M.The Old Sawmills, the secluded studio where Oasis birthed their iconic 1994 release Definitely Maybe, is now up for grabs. This extraordinary property, tucked away in Golant, near Fowey, Cornwall, is currently listed by estate agents Stags with an asking price of £1,950,000.Originally set up as one of the UK’s pioneering residential recording studios in 1974, the property sits on the site of a 17th-century water mill with roots tracing back to the 11th century. Only reachable by boat or foot, it’s described as a “unique and secluded waterside property nestled in enchanting woodland on the banks of a tidal creek”.Liam Gallagher was attacked by brother Noel in home’s studioBesides Oasis, the studio has played host to a string of successful musicians and bands including Robert Plant, Stone Roses, The Verve, Supergrass and Muse. Iconic albums recorded at The Old Sawmills include In It For The Money by Supergrass, and several albums by Muse such as Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry. The main dwelling offers seven bedrooms, multiple reception rooms, and breathtaking views across the river and surrounding woodlands. The original recording studio, still fully functional, takes up the lower ground floor and features a control room, vocal booth, and main live room complete with a Juliet balcony overlooking the creek. The estate also boasts a detached self-contained two-bedroom lodge, various adaptable outbuildings, and significant potential for a variety of future uses, from a private hideaway or creative sanctuary, to the continuation of a working recording studio with commercial possibilities.Room with a viewThe site also has a rich history, having played a role during both World Wars and was commandeered by the American Army in 1943 for preparations leading up to the D-Day landings and rescue Europe from Hitler. For the first time in over half a century, the property is set to be sold on the open market.Americans used home before taking on Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler(Image: Popperfoto via Getty Images)Other conflicts were also prepped in the house when 50 years later Noel Gallagher used a cricket bat to attack his brother Liam in their “biggest ever fight” – before air rifles had to be locked away to keep everyone safe. The brawl broke out while the pair were recording Oasis’ second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory. The band members were working on songs in a studio in Wales in 1995 when trouble arose from Liam going to a local pub where he invited random revellers back.Secluded Furious at the disruption, Noel ordered them out and used a cricket bat to whack Liam over the head, before he sped away from the “carnage” in his car. The famous bat was later sold by writer Paulo Hewitt who retrieved it from a bin and in 2020, Liam told the BBC documentary Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm that his older brother overreacted. He said: “He had always been a bit like that – ‘what are you doing bringing people back when we’re working?’ My argument would be ‘what are you doing 900 f***ing takes to do one guitar rift when you should be in the f***ing pub with me’, you know what I mean?”He said he grew bored “twiddling his thumbs” in the studio because unlike all the other band members, he did not play instruments and was only needed for vocals.Water a view! But he said bringing people back from the boozer sent Noel into a fit of rage when the randomers started staring and commenting on the guitars. He said that was when things “went t**s up” and Noel used a cricket bat to crack him over the head. Liam, who said yes to being asked if it was their biggest ever fight, added: “It was just a lot of running around and throwing s**t at people. I just remember him getting in the car and driving off and I just remember being stood there going ‘come on you f***ing s**t bag’.”He also said air rifles were used as weapons and co-founder of Oasis, Paul Arthurs, better known as Bonehead, said: “Air rifles were (later) locked up cos they might get used.” He added: “As fights went, it was a good one.”Article continues below More

Orlando Bloom ‘shows true colours’ as ex Katy Perry ‘humiliated’ after split

Katy Perry is said to be feeling “let down and humiliated” after her ex Orlando Bloom appeared to poke fun at her rumoured new romance with former Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau12:23, 09 Aug 2025Katy Perry is said to be feeling “humiliated” by Orlando Bloom after their split(Image: Getty Images for Vanity Fair)Orlando Bloom is said to have left his ex Katy Perry feeling “humiliated”.A few days ago, the actor appeared to playfully address Katy’s apparent new romance with former Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau. Orlando, 48, and Katy, 40, reportedly split earlier this summer after nine years – they got engaged in 2019 and share four-year-old daughter Daisy.Pop star Katy was first linked to Canadian politics titan Justin when they were spotted having dinner together at the Le Violon restaurant in Montreal. Two days later, he was seen dancing and singing in the crowd at her concert in the city. And Orlando couldn’t help but see the funny side of a fake image suggestion that he, too, had found a spark with a famous politician. The post on satirical news site The Onion posted a fake photo of Orlando at dinner with the former Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.Orlando and Katy split earlier this summer(Image: Instagram/ @orlandobloom)It showed the pair sat at a candle-lit dinner table, with a faux caption from an “insider” claiming: “Angela kept Orlando laughing all night – he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!” Orlando saw the funny side of it and posted a string of clapping emojis in the comments section. However, this is said to have upset Katy, and a source told OK!: “Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realising that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colours and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future. They added: “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break-up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”Katy Perry is now linked romantically to former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau(Image: Chris Jackson, Getty Images)Orlando and Katy confirmed the end of their relationship in June with a joint statement. It read: “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry ‘s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”Katy has revealed how she and the Lord of the Rings star did couples therapy and that it helped their relationship. She told the Call Her Daddy podcast: “We do a lot of couples therapy and we want to evolve.”That’s, I think, why we’re in our relationship – to become better humans so that we can raise this beautiful human being.” It has been reported that the couple were having issues around the time of her highly criticised Blue Origin space flight in April. It’s not the first time Katy and Orlando have split – they broke up for almost a year in April 2017. At the time, Orlando said, “We’re friends, it’s good. We’re all grown up.” They got back together in early 2018, when they were seen holidaying in Prague.Have you joined Threads?
