Coronation Street's hottest ever stars – From Michelle Keegan to Helen Flanagan

Coronation Street will celebrate a landmark anniversary this week, with the programme marking 60-years since the first ever episode dominated British TV screens.

The iconic programme, which is the world’s longest-running TV soap, will mark the momentous occasion on Wednesday (October 9).

It’s hard to believe that it all started with one incredible instalment on (December 9), 1960, that saw the likes of Ken Barlow (William Roache) rise to fame and end up being one of the most renowned and long standing members of crew that the cobbles ever saw.

Over the years, Coronation street has produced some of the most tear jerking and edge of seat scenes that led to its growing popularity.

Another reason for heads turning to the ITV favourite was due to the stunning cast members who have graced our screens across the 60-year spanning period – from Michelle Keegan to Helen Flanagan.

To celebrate the legendary show, the Daily Star is glancing back at some of the sexiest soap stars of all time to honour the very special occasion.

Helen Flanagan

The mum-of-two (soon to be three) first appeared as Rosie Webster in Coronation Street in January 2000.

Helen was such a hit on the programme that she remained on the cobbles until 2012 before undergoing a stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! where she became even more popular, especially due to the steamy shower scenes.

After a break from the ITV soap and taking up other lucrative offers, Helen did eventually return to her roots.

In 2017, the bombshell made a remarkable return to the ITV favourite but in 2018 left to take maternity leave with her post believed to be still open to this day.

Samia Ghadie

Samia quickly became one of Corrie’s hottest bombshell’s after she obtained the role of Maria Sutherland in 2000.

Even though Samia had appeared on the ITV soap as an extra – at the age of just eight – it was no easy feat landing the character as she had to beat both Hear’Say’s Suzanne Shaw and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh to the role.

Back in 2013, Samia took a brief break from the programme to participate in the eighth series of Dancing On Ice which launched her to stardom.

During her time on the skating competition, Samia’s romance with Sylvain Longchambon became a talking point, with the pair eventually going on to tie the knot.

Tina O’Brien

Tina stole the hearts of the nation for her role as Sarah Platt, the daughter of long-serving member Gail Platt.

At just the age of 16, Tina joined the cast and became a firm favourite on the soap after her character Sarah became pregnant as a school teen.

The story line sky-rocketed Tina’s fame and popularity and she even went on to scoop up the award for Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards.

Lucy Fallon

In 2015, Lucy first graced British screens as Sarah Platt’s 14-year-old daughter, Bethany, who was a lovable rogue.

Her acting career completely took off after she took to the cobbles at just the age of 19, landing herself the Best Actress Award in 2017 at the Inside Soap Awards.

Being effortlessly stunning and boasting long blonde waved locks, it’s really no wonder that she became one of hottest members of the cast.

More recently, Lucy took part in the new reality show, Don’t Rock The Boat, alongside the likes of Love Island’s Jack Fincham, funnyman Craig Charles and YouTuber Joe Weller.

Michelle Keegan

The former Coronation Street bombshell didn’t know just how famous she’d become after accepting the role of Tina McIntyre, in 2007 mesmerising the nation not only with her talent but her beauty too.

Michelle however was destined for bigger and better things and after six years on the ITV soap, she opted to try her hand at something else, later bagging herself the role as the lead character on the hit show Our Girl.

In 2015, the red hot pinup was announced as ‘The Sexiest Woman In The World’ and we’re not surprised, given her steamy content as she models scantily-clad items too.

Kym Marsh

Kym had already achieved sex symbol status before she had even landed on the famous cobbles

Kym was already a sex symbol in her own right before she became character Michelle Connor on the iconic ITV soap in 2006.

The mum-of-four had already endured a successful singing career after winning herself a place in the band Hear’Say, as a result of appearing on the reality series Popstars.

Before taking to the cobbles, Kym even unleashed her own solo album, with two singles entering the UK top 10 charts.

After achieving such huge success already, it was big news that Kym had finally fixed up a deal with ITV bosses to join Corrie.

The former singer remained a key member of the programme until last year, when she exited the show.

Faye Brooks

Faye won over Corrie viewers with her bombshell good looks

Faye joined the Coronation Street team in mid-2015 and blew viewers away with her bombshell looks and acting talent.

She also caught the eye of Pop Idol’s first ever winner Gareth Gates with the pair engaged to be married before it all came to end last year.

As her romance came to halt as did her career and character Kate Connor on the ITV favourite.

However, as one door closed another certainly opened up as she found herself in the line-up for the 2021 series of Dancing On Ice.

Coronation Street airs tonight on ITV at 7pm
