Jake Wood hinted at a possible EastEnders return after confirming his final scenes as Max Branning will air in February.
He said producers are keeping the door open despite him saying goodbye to the Square after almost 15 years.
Max won’t be killed off – and that, he says, means anything is possible in the future.
The actor confirmed the news when he released a heartfelt statement back in September, admitting it would be hard to go.
He was grilled by Piers Morgan when he appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today and offered fans hope for the future.

Jake is trying his hand at directing – and teased that he could one day reprise the role of lovable rogue Max.
He told Piers: “One of the security guys when I drove in last week said, ‘Sorry to hear you’re leaving, are you going in a cab or a coffin?’
“It’s not going to be a cab exactly but they’re leaving the door open so I’m very pleased for that.”

When asked when his exit will hit our screens, Jake replied: “I think about mid-February, I am filming now for another two weeks so it will be about mid-February.”
Confirming the news three months ago, Jake, 48, said: “I’ve had 15 wonderful years at EastEnders and have made some truly great friends.
“I’ll of course miss everyone there but I’m grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what the next chapter holds.”

An insider told Mirror Online: “Sometimes in soapland’s big characters have to leave.
“Bosses are staying tight lipped about what they have planned for Max considering he has played a major part in the show for over fifteen years.
“But they are clearly planning something big and he will not be departing Walford quietly.
“Everyone will be sad to see Jake go as he is not only a great person to have on set but he’s also a fantastic actor.”
