Emmerdale confirm two new characters as Mandy Dingle's past returns to haunt her

Emmerdale fans will be introduced to brand new mysterious characters in upcoming scenes as the ITV soap as confirmed two new actors have joined the cast.

Reece Dinsdale has joined the soap as Paul, a blast from Mandy Dingle’s (Lisa Riley) past.

It has been reported that the newcomer is set to cause trouble for scheming Mandy and Vinny.

As well as Reece, actor Mark Womack has been cast as DI Malone, a police officer “with a dark history”.

Taking to Twitter to announce the new additions to the cast, a post of the official Emmerdale account read: “Reece Dinsdale will be joining the cast of Emmerdale as Paul, a blast from Mandy Dingle’s past who will certainly stir things up for her and Vinny.

“Mark Womack will be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Mark will play DI Malone, a police officer with a dark history.”

Soap fans will recognise Reece’s face as he played Tina McIntyre’s (Michelle Keegan) father Joe McIntyre in Coronation Street between 2008 and 2010.

Speaking about his new Emmerdale role, the actor said: “”I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale.

“Having recently directed a couple of episodes and seen at close quarters the superb work the cast, crews, and creatives produce, I can’t wait to become part of the team once again – albeit in a different capacity.

“Time to get my acting boots back on.”

“I’m looking forward to the audience seeing his twisted tale unfold on screen.”

Both characters will make their first appearances in the spring.
