Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has taken to social media to open up about her battle with depression which led to her attempt to take her own life.
The soap beauty, 26, posted a lengthy statement on her Instagram account to explain what she has been through and urged her followers to speak out and not suffer in silence.
Steph explained how she has overcome the dark period of her life in her post, which also included footage of her distress at the time, and shared her happiness to “still be here”.
The former Celebrity Big Brother penned: “This photo was my first walk out, breathing in the air, feeling the wind on my face, praying for hope, yet still trying to fight the pain that had over took my mind body and soul after I tried to kill myself, and ended up in intensive care.

“I don’t know how I’m here, but someone was defiantly watching over me, as I am so lucky to be here [sic].”
Steph is a mother to Caben-Albi, three, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell, and shared a snap with the youngster after her hospital stay in the honest social media post.
The TV star also included a photo of her sitting on a jetty out of a lake, revealing her gratitude for surviving her attempt.
Writing about her journey she added: “I’m posting this to help others, it was a video I was sadly leaving behind when I wasn’t in a good place, I’ve never been in so much pain in my life.

“I’m so proud of myself for how far I’ve come in such a short time with my amazing beautiful son, family and friends with their unconditional love and strength for carrying me when I could not walk myself.”
She continued: “The light is back. Everyone is fighting battles we don’t know about. I know I have to carry on the message to help others, and I will.
“Fighter, always have been always will be! If anyone needs help please call 116 123. If it’s not ok it’s not the end.”
The actress revealed in December that she was just an hour from death after attempting to take her own life.

Steph bravely revealed she wanted to kill herself after struggling with her mental health without help or medication.
Posting a clip of herself at her lowest point with a heartfelt message, Steph warned her fans about the distressing content.
In September, it was reported Steph, who plays Sinead O’Connor in the Channel 4 soap, would be taking a break from the show following her break with with co-star Owen Warner.
