Line of Duty cast send fans into frenzy as they share sneak peak of series 6

The cast of the hit BBC drama Line of Duty have sent fans into a frenzy after posing in a behind the scenes picture today.

The BBC’s latest Instagram post has left devoted fans ‘shook’ in the run up to the sixth series of the hit police show.

The behind-the-scenes snap – which has already raked up over 4,000 likes, shows the main star of the show – Ted Hastings posing alongside his talented cast members.

Irish-born Adrian Dunbar poses alongside newcomer Kelly McDonald who will play a major lead role as she stars as she plays DCI Joanne Davidson, “the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12.”

Vicky McClure who plays DCI Kate Fleming, and Martin Compston who stars as Steve Arnott are also pictured in the snap during a quick break from filming.

Needless to say, fans went into complete meltdown after eyeing the post.

“Oh my god! Does this mean Line Of Duty will be back soon?!” one excited fan questioned.

“I’m shook. Look at those coppers about to catch the crooks! So excited for the new series!” another quipped.

While a third wrote: “So happy to see this! Praise be the lord it’s coming back!”.

“Look at Ted. Oh how I’ve missed that face !” a fourth joked.

The BBC One drama, which follows the intricate investigations of police anti-corruption unit AC-12 is set to return for at least one more run, with the BBC commissioning a sixth series before the fifth had even aired.

Loyal viewers are now hoping the cop drama will be back on their screens sooner rather than later after the cast snap.

Excluding the 12-month gap between series three and four, the BBC show has traditionally aired on a two-year cycle, so we might expect to wait until spring 2021.

However, creator and writer Jed Mercurio told Radio Times in October 2019 that Line of Duty might be back a lot sooner:

“I would hope it’s sometime in 2020, next year.”

Then, in November 2019 the BBC confirmed that filming would begin “next year”.

It’s still uncertain whether the sixth series of the show will be the last, as the main characters continue their mission to find ‘H’s identity.
