MF Doom has died aged 49, with stars of the music world paying tribute to his legacy in rap and hip hop.
On Thursday evening, the rapper’s wife Jasmine released a statement announcing his death, which said the musician had “transitioned” on October 31.
No cause of death has been announced.
The statement read: “The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for.
“Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off.
“Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always.”

Doom, whose real name was Daniel Dumile, was a British rapper who moved to New York at a young age.
Dumile’s many studio albums, such as Operation: Doomsday and Mm… Food, were revered, with the artist’s career spanning five decades.
His music career began in the late 80s when he formed the group KMD with his younger brother DJ Subroc, under the stage name Zev Love X.
Subroc sadly died in 1993, when he was hit by a car while crossing a state highway in Long Island.

Dumile started going by the name of Doom in the late 90s, and began obscuring his face during freestyle open mic events.
Due to his masked appearance, Doom was often compared to the Marvel villain Danger Doom, who featured on the cover of his Operation: Doomsday album.
Over the years, tracks such as DOOMsday, Rhymes Like Dimes, That’s That were huge hits, influencing many artists to come.
When news of MF Doom’s death broke, stars such as Flying Lotus and Tyler the Creator took to social media to reflect on his legacy as a musician.
In one of a series of tweets, Flying Lotus wrote: “My soul is crushed.”
“Safe travels villain,” wrote Tyler the Creator.
And Q-Tip similarly paid tribute, writing: “RIP to another Giant your favorite MC’s MC .. MF DOOM!! crushing news…”
