After 27 years of marriage, This Morning’s TV legend Phillip Schofield revealed that he was gay in an announcement that sent shockwaves across the nation last week.
Phil, bravely shared a bold post confirming his inner thoughts and how he’d been transported to “dark places” before his dramatic TV appearance.
He later took to the sofa on This Morning to speak candidly about his sexuality and the impact that it had on his family in a sensitive interview with co-host Holly Willoughby.
During the tear-jerking discussion the Dancing on Ice host spoke openly about how he’d concealed his sexuality for years and even addressed his relationship with his wife Stephanie.
The Technicolour Dreamcoat star confirmed that he knew he’d been gay “for a while” and also commended his wife Steph for her continued support, stating: “It’s tough, this is not something that has happened quickly we’ve had to deal with this in my head for quite some time.

“We’ve been honest and open.
“Steph… I can’t write in any statement what I feel about that woman.”
“She’s amazing, she’s incredible.”
Speaking to The Sun this week, Phil admitted to the publication that he “didn’t know if his marriage would last” as he opened up about being gay.
He also said he was “naive” to think he could suppress his sexuality when he wed wife Steph.

Phil told them: “I admit I was perhaps a bit naïve.
“But when we got married it was a joyous time and it wasn’t a consideration in my head.
“I was so, so happy when we had the girls, and then bringing them up.

The ITV host delved deeper into his thoughts during the coming out process, even questioning at one point if he was “bisexual”.
Although he later verified that if he was honest with himself he’d known all along, Phil added: “If you ask anyone who is gay, they know, there is no confusion.”
But the inner turmoil consumed him — leading to his courageous decision to come out on This Morning on Friday.
