Rami Malek hints his James Bond character in No Time to Die is original villain

Rami Malek has fuelled suggestions his mysterious Bond villain is secretly a rebooted Dr No in the upcoming film.

The American stars in No Time to Die as Safin alongside outgoing 007 Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Lashana Lynch and Ben Whishaw.

Producers have remained tightlipped on his supervillain, only revealing he “gets under Bond’s skin” and is a “nasty piece of work.”

But some people reckon they’ve cracked his identity and think the 38-year-old is really Dr Julius No, the baddie played by Joseph Wiseman in the first 007 film adventure.

Rami hinted to Esquire Magazine: “I heard that. Am I? I mean, isn’t that an exciting thing to consider all the way up to the release?

“There is a resurgence of an Ian Fleming influence on this film”.

Several fans have scrutinised Rami’s brief appearances in trailers and believe the film set he is stood on is similar to the one used in the 1962 film.

And that even the new movie’s name is a possible clue.

One said: “The more I see the trailer for #NoTimeToDie, the more convinced I am that Rami Malek is playing Dr No.”

And another said: “I hope at the end of the film Bond is standing over Malek and says ‘no, time to die” and it’s the ultimate title drop.”

But despite starring as the baddie he is yet to see the finished movie, and plans on waiting for its premiere in April.

He added: “I quite like the idea of sitting with everyone else and watching their reactions for the first time and having my own. Having said that, it would be a little too late to weigh in on anything.

“With something of this scale and scope, I don’t know how much you have in the first place.”

The March/April issue of Esquire UK is on sale now.
