AceShowbiz – Tracee Ellis Ross has treated fans to a brand new music video for “Love Myself”. One week after debuting the lead single from upcoming film “The High Note” on Instagram Live, the actress portraying recording artist Grace Davis in the drama movie offered behind-the-scenes look in its newly-released visual.
When sharing the promo video on Instagram, the 47-year-old daughter of Motown legend Diana Ross informed friends and followers about what to expect. “Some of the many incredible moments we all shared making this wonderful film with our director @nisha.ganatra,” she noted in the caption.
“This song was beautifully written by the beyond special @sarah_aarons, and produced by @rodneyjerkins who held my hand and my eyes through the process of letting my voice out,” she went on to praise the track’s songwriter and producer. “There are so many incredible people who made this film and music possible. Can’t wait for you to see @thehighnotefilm on May 29!”
Tracee released “Love Myself” on May 14. During an online streaming that gathered the likes of her mother and other friends, including Michelle Obama, Janelle Monae, Lena Waithe, Sarah Paulson and Kerry Washington, she confessed that she dreamed to be a singer when she was a child, but her fear got the best of her.
“This movie I get to sing and my mom who’s on [the live] is Diana Ross and whether consciously or unconsciously as a kid I took that dream of mine to be a singer and I hid it. I hid it away,” she explained. “I got so scared to sing that it became this dream that I was afraid of and at 47 years old, I faced that dream.”
To be made available through VOD platforms on May 29, “The High Note” is directed by Nisha Ganatra, and is written by Flora Greeson. It will see Tracee starring opposite Dakota Johnson, who portrays Davis’s overworked personal assistant who despite being stuck running errands, still aspires to be a music producer.
