Love Island host Caroline Flack was found dead earlier this month on February 15, a few weeks before she would go to trial for an alleged assault on her boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27.
Now, the Crown Prosecution Service have confirmed that the 40-year-old’s assault case was officially closed on February 25, 10 days after the Love Island star tragically took her own life.
It is reported that Caroline was worried about the upcoming March court date before she took her own life, after she was arrested in December 2019.
A spokesperson or the CPS confirmed to the Sun: “Court proceedings against Caroline Flack came to an official end on February 25.”

For the case to be officially closed, Caroline’s death certificate had to be presented to Highbury Magistrates’ Court, in North London.
The spokesperson added to the publication: “By law we had to give formal evidence to the clerk of the court that the defendant was deceased.
“We had to provide a death certificate as a record that the defendant was deceased.

“Despite media coverage of Caroline’s death and public comments made by her family about her death we needed to make this a formality to close the case.
“It is a formality that had to be done and now has been.”
Francis Ridley, from Caroline’s management team, hit out at the CPS following the telly regular’s death.
The statement read: “In recent months Caroline had been under huge pressure because of an ongoing case and potential trial which has been well reported.
“The Crown Prosecution Service pursued this when they knew not only how very vulnerable Caroline was but also that the alleged victim did not support the prosecution and had disputed the CPS version of events.

“The CPS should look at themselves today and how they pursued a show trial that was not only without merit but not in the public interest.”
At the time, a CPS spokesperson responded: “Our deepest sympathies go to the family and friends of Caroline Flack.
“Given the tragic circumstances, we will not comment on the specifics of this case at this stage.”
Caroline reportedly took her own life when her friend that was staying with her “popped to the shops”.

Although Caroline was not hosting the recently-finished series of Love Island, the show was affected by her tragic death.
On the night of her death, the Unseen Bits episode was cancelled, while the Sunday night’s catch-up episode was also dropped.
The show returned on the Monday night, with narrator and Caroline’s pal Iain Stirling paying tribute.
On last Sunday’s finale, new host Laura Whitmore paid tribute, while a montage of Caroline’s best bits was also shown.
