Coronavirus: Billie Eilish postpones North American tour 'until further notice'

Billie Eilish has informed fans she has pulled her North American tour following the recent coronavirus outbreak.

The US singer, who recently recorded the new James Bond theme, explained her decision on Twitter, writing she wants to keep her fans “safe”.

She explained: “It is with great sadness to announce the following Billie Eilish ‘WHERE DO WE GO’ North American tour dates have been postponed until further notice.

“Details on postponed dates to be announced soon. All tickets will be honored for the new dates.

“I’m so sad to do this but we need to postpone these dates to keep everyone safe. we’ll let you know when they can be rescheduled. please keep yourselves healthy. I love you – Billie.”

She followed up her tweets with the dates of her upcoming tour which have been pushed back.

“POSTPONED ‘WHERE DO WE GO?’ TOUR DATES 03/13 – Wells Fargo Center – Philadelphia, PA 03/15 – Madison Square Garden – New York, NY 03/16 – Prudential Center – Newark, NJ 03/18 – Capital One Center – Washington, DC 03/19 – TD Garden – Boston, MA (3/4)

“03/20 – Barclays Center – Brooklyn, NY 03/23 – Little Caesars Arena – Detroit, MI 03/24 – United Center – Chicago, IL 03/25 – Bankers Life Fieldhouse – Indianapolis, IN 03/27 – Bridgestone Arena – Nashville, TN 03/28 – Enterprise Center – St. Louis, MO.”

Billie isn’t the first artist to postpone her upcoming tour due to coronavirus fears.

The Who called off a run of dates in the UK. and Ireland as the life-threatening virus continues to spread.

The 11 dates were set to take place between March 16 and April 8, but will be rescheduled for later in the year, with all tickets remaining valid.

Meanwhile, veteran punk band Green Day announced in a statement that they’d be moving their upcoming Asian tour due to concerns about the virus.

They wrote: “We know it sucks, as we were looking forward to seeing you all, but hold on to your tickets we’ll be announcing the new dates very soon.”

Mariah Carey, Slipknot and Khalid have all scrapped or postponed shows as COVID-19 continues to spread.
