Coronavirus forces Disney to remove Mulan and New Mutants from release calendar

New movies Mulan, The New Mutants and Antlers have been removed from Disney’s release calendar following the Coronavirus outbreak.

With the global pandemic continuing to spread and cases rising, Disney has decided to pull the plug on three upcoming films until next year.

Mulan was due to be released in theatres on March 27th, with Marvel’s The New Mutants due to be finally released on April 10th.

Despite postponing the flicks, no new release date has yet been announced.

Disney issued a statement Thursday evening via The Wrap, explaining the decision to delay Mulan and The New Mutants is an effort to be as cautious as possible.

It read: “As you know this has been a rapidly evolving situation and I wanted to make you aware that we are postponing the releases of ‘Mulan,’ ‘The New Mutants,’ and ‘Antlers’ out of an abundance of caution.

“We truly believe in the moviegoing experience, and we are looking at new potential 2020 release dates to be announced at a later date.”

The delays will now have an impact on when the movies will be added to the new streaming platform, Disney+, since Mulan was due to feature on Disney+ later this year.

And the bad news just keeps on coming for film The New Mutants, which has seen the release date pushed back four times.

It was originally set for release in April 2018.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Black Widow, which is set to hit cinemas at the end of April, hasn’t been delayed.

Only time will tell what’s next for Hollywood’s film industry as the coronavirus continues to dominate
