Channel 4 first introduced the Gallagher clan back in 2004 and the nation were instantaneously addicted to the Chatsworth council series.
The Manchester show was like no other comedy of it’s time, with witty, explicit and outrageous content capturing everyone when it first hit the small screen.
Every fan knew that the family certainly knew how to party, as Frank Gallagher would explain on the opening title each time.
Sadly the UK show came to a close in 2013, after five successful years since but was snapped up by the US and aired over the pond in American version instead.
As Paul Abbott’s classic drama about the rollercoaster lives of the Gallagher clan makes a remarkable return to All 4 – On Demand, we couldn’t help but wonder what the originals were up to now.
Fiona McBride – Anne-Marie Duff

As the eldest member of the Gallagher clan, life wasn’t always easy for Fiona and she found herself taking on a maternal role after her mum had fled, leaving the family alone with their alcoholic father Frank.
Since Shameless Anne-Marie’s career rocketed and she went on to star in Before I Go To Sleep, working alongside legends, Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth but more recently she starred in the Netflix hit Sex Education as Erin Wiley.
Anne-Marie also went on to marry her Shameless on-screen beau James McAvoy and the pair share a son, Brendon, together.
Much to everyone’s surprise, the pair announced their divorce in 2016.
Anne-Marie is set to star in BBC drama The Salisbury Poisonings alongside Rafe Spall, but the show has been pushed back due to coronavirus.
Steve McBride – James McAvoy

The loveable rogue Steve, who was a professional grand theft auto thief but beneath it all, you couldn’t help but adore him.
In the sitcom, sweethearts Fiona and Steve decide to run off to start a new life together, leaving the Manchester council estate long behind them.
Although in reality, the Glaswegian actor was destined for bigger and better things and eventually went on to be a Hollywood hit.
Back in 2007, he starred in the romantic drama war film Atonement, alongside Keira Knightly and later an action thriller Wanted, working with icon Morgan Freeman.
Later he went on to star in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse and more recently Glass and Split – of which he received critical acclaim.
James has recently raised funds for 60,000 face shields during the coronavirus pandemic, contributing £275,000 of his own money.
Carl Gallagher – Elliott Tittensor

The Gallagher brother who had more run-in’s with the law than any other of his family members – from flogging drugs for the Maguire’s and also facing a murder charge, that wasn’t him.
Originally Elliott, shared the role of Carl with his twin brother Luke, although the role of Daz Eden was too tempting for Luke, therefore leaving Elliot to take the limelight.
Elliott has kept a low profile since 2015 and is rumoured to have sparked up a career as a tattoo apprentice instead.
Mimi Tutton – Tina Malone

On the show foul-mouthed gang leader Mimi is definitely one person you would not want to get on the wrong side of.
In 2009 Tina decided to enter the Celebrity Big Brother House but became the second member of the clan to be booted off by the public.
The Liverpool-born-lass then declared bankruptcy in 2012, after she had incurred a £37,000 debt from a friend that she couldn’t afford to pay back.
Speaking to The Sunday Mirror at the time she blamed the situation on outrageous spending and generosity, Tina said: “This is all my fault, I’ve been an idiot. Money burns a hole in my pocket.”
Debbie Gallagher – Rebecca Ryan

Poor Debbie Gallagher, she was wise beyond her years, always running to her dads defence and picking up all of the household responsibilities from a young age.
After years of taking care of her family, it came as no surprise that she wanted a swift escape and took off to join the army.
Little Debbie is all grown up now and looks completely unrecognisable now at the age of 28.
Rebecca’s acting career continued and she first joined the cast of Waterloo Road where she played the role of Vicki MacDonald until the show ended in 2011.
More recently she concluded a long stint on Casualty as Gemma Dean to re-join Doctors as character Leah Harrison.
Frank Gallagher – David Threlfall

How could we mention the iconic series and not mention the booze-soaked father, who smoked like a chimney and spent day-to-day with a can off beer.
However in reality David Threlfall is a far cry away from the greasy haired alcoholic he played on the show until the final curtain.
He went on to star in various roles such as Martin Blower in Hot Fuzz, Abel Croker in Ripper Street, Priam in Troy: Fall of a City and Peters alongside Jude Law, in Black Sea.
