Emmerdale fans distracted by baby Eve blunder as Paddy lashes out at infant

Emmerdale fans suspected baby Eve’s tears were fake during tonight’s episode, as Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) reached breaking point.

Staring down into the baby’s crib, the new dad grew upset over her constant tears and lashed out in a fit of rage.

Red-faced, he shouted: “I hate you! You’ve ruined my life!”

Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) walked in at the exact moment the violent outburst occurred, left gobsmacked by Paddy’s terrifying mood swing.

However, over on Twitter, viewers weren’t convinced that the tears had come from a real baby and suspected some clever editing had been employed.

ITV bosses likely decided against using a real baby for the scene, to prevent the infant from growing distressed.

Over on Twitter, one announced: “That baby isn’t crying – the body would move. Bit like Paddy’s will now Chas has heard him say he hates the baby thing…”

Paddy accused Eve of ruining his life as he unleashed a torrent of abuse

A second agreed: “Oh, poor Paddy. (Thankfully we think some clever shooting angles kept the real baby safe from his shouting). “

While a third chimed: “That kid is not crying!”

Sitting Paddy down, Chas quizzed him about his erratic behaviour, concerned about his increased anxiety.

Speaking about fatherhood, Paddy said: “I thought I’d be better at it then I am.

Chas was concerned for Paddy after witnessing the outburst

“All that I love, I remember seeing her face on the first day and I made this promise that no matter what I was going to be the best dad in the world.

“Now I’ve broken that promise.”

Putting his worries at ease, Chas consoled: “If you put that amount of pressure on yourself your head is going to explode.

Paddy was stricken by his behaviour, concerned he would be a bad father

“If you ever feel like this again you talk to me.”

She added: “If we stick together we’ll be okay.”

Can Paddy get the help he needs to adjust to fatherhood?

Emmerdale airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
