GMB fans baffled as Chris Tarrant explains coronavirus 'conspiracy theory'

Chris Tarrant called into the Good Morning Britain studios earlier today, joining hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

The 73-year-old came on the show to promote the new ITV drama Quiz, which will air tonight.

However, viewers were left baffled when the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host started questioning the origins of the coronavirus.

Suggesting Chris had a “conspiracy theory” about coronavirus, GMB fans were left a little confused as he launched into a discussion about the virus.

He said: “I find it very hard to accept that one man in China eating a bat has caused this world scale of chaos.

“I find it very hard to believe. I can’t understand that at all.”

Over on Twitter, viewers took to their keyboards to weigh in on the quiz master’s viewpoint.

One commented: “Very scary moment at the beginning of the interview Chris Tarrant was about to explain his Coronavirus conspiracy theory. It would of been more interesting than him talking about this film.”

A second added: “Chris Tarrant, first thing, going all in with a conspiracy theory on #GMB – ‘I find it hard to believe this was all caused by some bloke in China eating a bat’.”

While a third chimed: “Chris Tarrant finds it very hard to believe that one man in China eating a bat has caused this global crisis. If you don’t understand stuff, you’re not obliged to comment on it.”

Quiz follows the story of Charles Ingram, who cheated on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire using a complicating coughing hoax.

Back in 2001, the English former British Army major managed to win £1million on the quiz show – but was eventually caught out.

Starring Matthew Macfadyen as Charles, Quiz airs at 9pm tonight on ITV.
