Ja'net Dubois dead: Good Times star dies aged 74

Good Times actress Ja’net Dubois has died at the age of 74.

Ja’net’s family confirmed to TMZ that the star, who played the Evans family’s sassy neighbor Willona Woods on the classic ’70s TV series, was found dead on Tuesday.

Her family reportedly told the publication that she died unexpectedly in her sleep overnight at her home in Glendale, CA.

It hasn’t been reported on who discovered the star had passed.

TMZ reported that the star hadn’t “complained of any specific ailments recently”, and appeared to be in good health.

The star even attended a fan event in Hollywood just a few weeks ago.

While Ja’net is most famous for her leading role on Good Times, she was also known for her outstanding voice.

She composed and sang the theme song ‘Movin’ On Up’ for The Jeffersons.

Ja’net also appeared in a number of films including Golden Boy and A Raisin In The Sun.

She also won two Emmy Awards for her voice-over work on The PJs.

Ja’net was born on August 5, 1938, and was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

She began her acting career in theater during the early 1960s, appearing in Broadway’s Golden Boy with Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. in 1956.

Ja’net also appeared in a number of films including Golden Boy and A Raisin In The Sun

Ja’net had two children, Rani Dubois and Raj Kristo Gupta, who died of cancer in 1987 at age 36.

Rani appeared on an episode of the 1970s sitcom What’s Happening!!
