Good Morning Britain made for uncomfortable viewing on Friday after Ben Shephard questioned John Fashanu’s motives after the ex-footballer “stranged” Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins co-star Rudimental DJ Locksmith.
In shocking scenes, aired on Monday evening, the former Wimbledon player failed to control his anger when he was pitted against the musician in a game of “murderball”.
During the Channel 4 show, which sees celebrities embark on one of the toughest tests of their lives as they try to pass a unique version of the infamous SAS Selection test, the group were split into two teams and were put through their paces and challenged with pushing a tyre to the rival team’s goal line.
In the task, the 57-year-old was seen getting the singer into a headlock – and despite DJ Locksmith looking visibly uncomfortable and struggling to breathe – he didn’t back down.

Discussing the incident to the TV presenter, John confessed he got “carried away”.
Speaking about the moment, Ben said: “There was a moment watching that game of Murderball with you and DJ Locksmith going at it, that I felt really uncomfortable with.
“It felt that the control we see from you quite a lot and we’ve always seen, it’s this controlled aggression, certainly as a footballer and it had gone completely and something had flipped in you which meant you had gone so much further and you were actually choking him.”
However, John explained: “I never thought it would get to that level.”
“But football is a team game but SAS is all about individuals. You get carried away and you lose where you are, and at the moment I got carried away.
“I think that we had had a bit of backwards and forwards ourselves anyway, you are in a competitive mood and you’ve got to be in a competitive mood.
Prior to the task, the DS staff urged the celebrities to keep their anger under control during the competition, but John admitted “he lost it”.
“He had actually hit me with the first tackle very very hard, he is a strong guy, and I was talking to him at the same time and I suppose that’s what we were supposed not to do.
“At the end of the day we were supposed to keep our own self-control, and I’ll be honest that time we lost it.”
