Tom Meighan has stepped down from Kasabian.
Kasabian a statement today confirming the news, which will undoubtedly devastate fans.
The statement read: “Kasabian have announced today that Tom Meighan is stepping down from the band by mutual consent. Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track.
“We will not be commenting further.”
Meighan, who has previously been described as “one of the last rock stars”, has not released a personal statement.

Tom has been the lead vocalist of Kasabian since the band’s inception in Leicester in 1997.
He sang lead vocals on most of the group’s tracks and tended not to play any instruments within the group, although he did play the tambourine on the odd occasion, as well as playing the guitar during live performances of The Nightworkers.
Kasabian have enjoyed a string of hits over the years, bagging four top 10 singles and five top 10 albums
Tom has also lent his vocals to tracks for other bands over the years.
He sang on Viva La Revolution by Superrevolver and Lysergic Suite’s Ghosts on Crusade.
Tom has earned himself a fiery image over the years, previously laying in to other musicians at the start of Kasbian’s musical career.
He called Julian Casablancas a “posh f***ing skier,” Pete Doherty a “f***ing tramp” and Justin Timberlake a “midget with whiskers”.

Leicester City football fan Tom has one daughter – Mimi Malone Meighan – born in May 2012, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Kim James.
In 2017, Meighan announced his engagement to girlfriend Vikki Ager.
Kasabian fans have flocked to Twitter in their droves to comment on the shocking news of Tom’s departure from the band.
One fan penned: “Gutted as [Kasabian] has always been one of my fave bands. Hope @meighanofficial is ok.”
While another continued: “This is sad news.”
A third added: “Absolutely gutted about Tom. Sad times.”
