Lewis Capaldi has fought back after critics took to social media to slam his choice of opting to go ahead with his concert on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Before You Go hitmaker has said that the star was “in full compliance” with the Scottish government’s advice surrounding large gatherings at the current moment.
The wide spread COVID-19 has left Scotland with no choice but to place a temporary ban on mass gathering involving more than 500 people which will come into force as of Monday.
It won’t just be singers and bands who will be asked to adhere to the new government rules but many sports, religious and cultural events too.

With the ban not actually coming into effect until today and Lewis’ concert taking place the day before, he hasn’t actually broken any rules despite many people suggesting it was still “irresponsible”.
Earlier today, Lewis faced some tough critics on Twitter who were not so keen with his choice to not abort the gig.
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, seemed to be leading the charge and slammed both Lewis and Stereophonic’s for bringing together thousands of people at this critical time.
The outspoken presenter, suggested that UK had not acted swift enough with banning mass gatherings and praised other countries who had.

Despite the backlash, a rep for the 23-year old has since insisted that his show on Sunday 15th March was “in full compliance” with Scottish governments requirements.
The spokesperson said: “The final show of Lewis’ UK arena tour in Aberdeen on Sunday 15th March went ahead in full compliance with the advisory document on mass gatherings issued by the Scottish government at 1pm on the same day.
“The document states that the advice applies from Monday 16th March and is not expected to have a significant impact on the spread of COVID-19, and this is not its purpose, but aims to relieve pressure on public services, including emergency services.
“Security, first aid, medial and welfare teams were paid for by the organisers as normal and the venue had additional signage in place to highlight best practice on hygiene during the event.”
The rep continued: “We’d like to thank everyone who came along to Aberdeen and the other tour dates for welcoming Lewis so warmly.”
The news landed just moments ago that the death toll has leaped overnight to 55 people in the UK as a result of COVID-19.
It comes after the announcement that there had been a surge in confirmed cases today with 171 additional people now testing positive, taking the total 1,543 patients in the UK that have been tested.
There has so far been only one death in Scotland at the present moment.
