Nadia Sawalha is one of the nation’s favourite Loose Women panelists thanks to her down-to-earth nature and no-holds-barred approach to speaking her mind.
But the 55-year-old mum-of-two revealed in an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online that the confidence she has with getting her opinions across, hasn’t always applied to how she feels about her body.
The chat comes as Nadia recently unleashed her inner supermodel, as she stripped off on her Instagram page for the viral “Pillow Challenge”.
The trend sees people get naked but keep their modesty intact with just a pillow case for protection.
Nadia revealed that Halle Berry’s own Pillow Challenge photo inspired her to take part, and while she wouldn’t describe herself as being totally body-confident now, she’s finally at a place of acceptance with her fab figure.
She explained: “For so many years, I was so messed up about my body, and so I love to do these really liberating things where I can be totally care-free.
“And I really love the feedback you get when you do something like that on social media because so many people are stuck in this horrible cycle of self-loathing and low self-esteem, so I just love to take the p*** out of myself – I love it – I just absolutely love it.
“I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer to look like Halle Berry! But I’m working with what I’ve got, you know.”
Nadia thinks that her younger self was “insane” in terms of how much she beat herself up about her body.
She continued: “I’ve got acceptance now [with my body]. Because when I was young, and beautiful, and slim, I thought I was fat, ugly and stupid.
“So, it’s like there’s no real confident time. But I posted something else on my Instagram and I came across this picture of me and I looked bl**dy gorgeous. But I remember that night on that red carpet I remember feeling so anxious because I thought I looked so awful, and I look back now and think, ‘you were insane!’
“So where I’m at now in my mid-fifties is I don’t want to get to my mid-sixties and look back at this time now and have this shame where you were great but didn’t see it.

“It’s just that thing of being sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I think that’s what happened to me.”
