Love Island fans slam 'pointless' £50K cash prize twist after Paige and Finn split prize

Last night’s Love Island final saw Paige Turley and Finley Tapp crowned the winners of the Winter Series.

The pair, who managed to overtake the bookie’s favourites Siannise and Luke T, was over the moon as they were handed the staggering £50,000 cash prize.

Following their win, Paige and Finn were each handed an envelope, with one containing £50,000 and the other one holding no cash value.

Lewis Capaldi’s ex Paige was the lucky recipient of the envelope containing the £50,000 – meaning she had the decision to take the entire prize home or share it with her Islander boyfriend, Finn.

The Scottish singer, 22, opted to share the prize which saw viewers of the ITV2 show slam the money twist as “pointless” as no Islander has opted to pocket the entire amount for themselves.

Flocking to Twitter, one viewer said: “I just don’t understand. Why has NO ONE taken the 50k for themselves? Did the producers say you won’t get brand deals or that if you take the money for yourself because there is like no other reasons behind it? Love doesn’t count.”

A second went on to say: “Can you just scrap the whole ‘keep or share £50k’ thing. Nobody will ever choose the keep option pointless.”

While a third continued: “The bit where they choose the keep or share the £50k every year is pretty pointless. No one’s keeping it all at that point.”

Following their successful victory, Finn exclaimed: “F***ing hell, how did I blag that?!”

Paige, a singer-songwriter and recruitment consultant Finn had been fighting for the top spot against Ched and Jess, Demi and Luke M and Siannise and Luke T in the final.

When asked what he loved about Paige, Finn claimed that he loved her bubbly persona before adding: “I wasn’t wrong for picking her because she makes me laugh!”
