Love Island's Charlie Brake deletes Twitter after liking 'racist' Trump tweet

Love Island star Charlie Brake has apologised after giving his support to a Donald Trump tweet which led to his own fans branding him a racist.

Charlie came under fierce criticism after he retweeted and commented on the post sent out by Trump in which he condemned riots held in the US to protest George Floyd’s death.

Trump said: “These THUGS are dishonouring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen.”

The President also warned anybody looting would be shot by cops.

He added: “Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

Brake then retweeted the post and said “moral of the story… don’t loot or thieve. SIMPLE”.

Many rushed to the comments section to call the reality TV star and Trump a racist and Charlie later deleted his Twitter profile.

Now he has shared a post on Instagram and apologised to his followers for being ‘ignorant’.

He said: “About my post yesterday. It was absolutely not my intention to cause offence. Straight off, I want to say I am sorry and I did not understand the full picture of an incredibly serious situation.

“I don’t think my ignorance should be an excuse and I don’t want to make excuses. This is an apology. I am probably the epitome of white privilege.”

He went on: “I can’t change the world I was born in to but I can show & offer my full support.
