Love Island's Jack Fowler secret illness left him paralysed in wheelchair

Love Island star Jack Fowler has revealed that he was left unable to walk after a terrifying disease saw him paralysed and in a wheelchair.

The 24-year-old came down with a rare and aggressive neurological condition that gave him an inflamed spine and damaged nerve fibres.

It’s cause is unknown and only around 300 people each year suffer from it.

However Jack kept his battle with the illness a secret and continued to post photos of himself on luxury holidays living a seemingly perfect life.

The toned and chiselled influencer revealed all when speaking to the Oxford Union in a recent debate.

He said: “Instagram, social media is absolutely fake. At the start of this year – no one knows this – I had something called transverse myelitis.

“I lost all movement in my legs and my left arm, paralysed, I was in a wheelchair for two or three weeks.

“On my Instagram I was having a wicked time, I was having a great time.”

He explained: “I was in Dubai, I was in Thailand for all of the two weeks because that’s the ‘gram making it look like that.

“But realistically, I wasn’t. I was going through the hardest time of my life.”

His confession came during a debate at Oxford University called Should We Regret The Summer Of Love?

He appeared alongside Malin Andersson and Amy Hart, who spoke about Love Island and the impact it has on society.

Jack shot to fame in the 2018 series of Love Island and his gym-honed body, good looks and fun personality turned him into a fan-favourite.

He has amassed more than 1.3million followers on Instagram, which he fills with photos of his jet-setting lifestyle.

Transverse myelitis can cause symptoms such as the loss of spinal cord function, sudden lower back pain, muscle weakness and weird feelings in the toes and feet.

Some people make a full recovery, however others are left with permanent disabilities.
