Piers Morgan had a word or two to say about Michael Gove on today’s Good Morning Britain after he was spotted out on a run.
The 52-year-old politician headed out on a jog over the weekend, appearing to break the quarantine restrictions he was under.
Michael was said to be exposed to someone with coronavirus symptoms, meaning he needed to self-isolate for 14 days.
However, the MP explained his daughter, who had been showing symptoms, tested negative for the virus – meaning he was safe to leave the house.
Piers was furious about the turn of events, as he pointed out that NHS staff have gone without tests in the meantime.
The 55-year-old presenter ordered Mr Gove to make a statement about the decision, saying: “I want to hear Michael Gove explain why he was able to do this.”
He fumed: “So his daughter had symptoms on April 5, it now transpires within 24 hours Mr Whitty (Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty) had approved his request by Mr Gove for his daughter to be tested.
“Clearly they’ve taken the position if you’re a senior member of government you should be back at your workplace as soon as possible.
“You could argue that you could do the work just as well from his home.”
Piers’ co-star Susanna Reid mused: “If you’re a front line NHS worker in exactly the same position why are you not getting a test?”
Nodding along, Piers argued: “The difference between Michael Gove and an NHS worker is Micheal Gove can carry on working from home.
“They’re trying to play this down! I think its quite a significant moment in this. It cuts right to the heart. We want this for everybody in the front line.”
Later, Piers and Susanna were joined by members of the NHS to discuss their experiences.
Yet again, Michael Gove’s coronavirus testing was drawn into question – with Piers making it clear he wasn’t impressed.
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV
