Piers Morgan was talking about the rising threat of the coronavirus on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain , as more and more people go into self-isolation.
Wednesday’s Arsenal v Manchester City football match has been postponed after some Arsenal players were in contact with Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis, who recently contracted Covid-19.
Piers went on a rant about people not taking the coronavirus seriously, saying: “People are still saying on Twitter, ‘Stop scaremongering!’
“No, let’s all park this to one side. This is not scaremongering, this is real.”
He went on: “Italy, the entire nation, has been locked down. It is in meltdown and we need to expect similar stuff to come here and we need to deal with it in the same way our ancestors have dealt with world wars.

“You may think I’m exaggerating, but we are fighting a war against a virus. We’re at war with a virus we don’t know everything about yet.
“We don’t know the repercussions yet and we have to be sensible, and we also have to put our old pleasure aside.”
He added: “To miss a few football matches, if you can’t go to the cinema and have to watch at home, if you can’t go to a restaurant and get your normal table – suck it up!”

Yesterday, Piers and co-host Susanna Reid attended the annual TRIC Awards – but were left unhappy with the amount of close contact they were getting.
Sharing a photo of himself taking a photo with someone, Piers said: “My fans don’t seem to have got the social distancing memo…” followed by the hashtag, “coronavirus”.
Susanna agreed when they discussed it on Wednesday’s episode of GMB, joking she had her “Susanitiser” ready to go.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
