Celebrities have joined a growing army of people ditching Dry January and urged the nation to enjoy a lockdown booze-up.
Former I’m A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison, Ashes cricket hero Michael Vaughn and Line Of Duty actor Daniel Mays have all taken to the booze.
And they’re joined by a growing band of drinkers who have no intention of “being good” this month, which is set to be the drabbest January ever.
Vicky, 33, shared a snap of her enjoying booze, cakes and crisps with her 4.7million Instagram followers.
She said: “After my holiday to the Maldives went up the swanny, I am living like this for the foreseeable.
“No dry Jan, no Veganuary, just good old fashioned refined sugars and Henry the eighth-style excess and loads of feel-good films. Who’s with me?”

Vicky added: “Seriously though my lovelies, whatever happens, however frustrating it might be, just know that we will get through it, together, as we have before…. and with plenty of gin.”
Other stars were quick to show they are also giving Dry January a miss after Prime Minister Boris Johnson dashed hopes of a return to normality. Ex-England cricketer Michael, 46, shared a video of himself drinking wine, and said: “Well dry January lasted four days.”

Actor Daniel, 42, also refused to get on the wagon, posting: “G&T and the darts. Dry January and Covid can get to f***.”
After Monday’s lockdown announcement, ex-Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge also posted a video of herself clutching a large tipple. The 31-year mum-of-two captioned it: “Oh good.”
Social media is alight with people across Britain doing the same. Another disappointed lockdowner, Vicky Everett, said: “We were due to fly to Dubai New Year’s Day and then on to the Maldives but cancelled it. It didn’t feel right going away and leaving all what’s going on here.”
Even producers of zero-alcohol drinks said 2020 is not the year for Dry January.
Richard Clark, founder of British craft alcohol-free drinks brand Drynks Unlimited, said: “Our research shows people are getting bored of the abstinence culture of Dry January which can make you feel like a failure if you reach for a drink. Rather than abstaining from alcohol completely for a month let’s drop the guilt-culture and look to make more mindful and, ultimately, more enjoyable drinking choices all-year-round.”
