Danny Dyer blasts 'woke generation' as he claims they ditch Turkey on Christmas

Danny Dyer suggested that members of the “woke generation” don’t eat turkey at Christmas.

The EastEnders actor, 44, made the ‘woke’ comment when he appeared on a Christmas edition of Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel.

The festive special, which aired on Christmas Day (December 25) – saw Danny join the likes of BBC radio host Zoe Ball and comedians David Walliams and Jason Manford.

When it was Danny’s turn to spin the wheel, he was asked a question: “According to a 2020 YouGov Survey, what percentage of Britons said they had turkey for dinner?”

The star’s options were 94%, 74%, 54% and 34% – and he had help from actress Tameka Empson.

Tameka said:” I’m thinking maybe 74?”

Danny replied: “Nah, I’d say bout that but is it less?”

Empson explained: “I think people will buy turkey for Christmas. It’s the time that they will buy it.”

Danny said: “It’s got to be 74 isn’t it?”

He then seemed to take a cheeky dig as he added: “Wouldn’t be 94. Woke generation and all that. They won’t…”

Host Michael replied: “They don’t have turkey…”

Danny answered: “Nah.”

Fans on Twitter rushed to comment about the moment immediately – and not everyone was pleased.

A third wrote: “Danny Dyer going off message”

However, some loved seeing Danny on their screens.

A second added: “Danny giving it “woke generation” as they sent a string of laughing emojis.

Sadly for Danny, he got the question wrong and the correct answer was in fact 54% of Britons.

Danny recently appeared on a special EastEnders edition of The Wall – where he joined his soap co-stars.

Dyer plays Mick Carter on the square, and he joined Nancy Carter’s Maddy Hill and Martin Fowler’s James Bye.
