Dean Gaffney has treated fans to a glimpse inside his family life, sharing an incredibly rare snap of his baby granddaughter.
The 43-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Robbie Jackson in BBC soap EastEnders, revealed that his 24-year-old daughter Chloe had given birth to her own daughter, Mimi, in July this year.
Dean looked to be sitting in a cafe with Chloe, who looked the spitting image of her dad in the low-key snap.
Her brunette hair fell past her shoulders as she beamed at the camera, cradling Mimi in her arms, swaddled in a white blanket.
The newborn had a shock of dark hair and looked perfectly content to be resting in her mum’s arms.
Dean simply captioned the snap with two love-heart emojis.
He announced the news that he’d become a grandad for the first time last month with a sweet black-and-white snap posted to Instagram of him cradling newborn Mimi.
In another adorable picture, Mimi could be seen wearing a white dress emblazoned with red flowers as she took a nap.
Dean wrote alongside the snap: “Welcome to this crazy world, my beautiful granddaughter Mimi.
“I am very happy to announce I am a GRANDAD. I can’t believe my baby is now a mother, proud is an understatement. Chloe and Declan, you’re going to be amazing parents x.”
“Baby Mimi, born 07.07.2021… 7 pound 14oz.
“Just to thank everyone in advance, I know I don’t look old enough to be a father let alone a grandfather!” Dean added cheekily.
Fans and Dean’s co-stars quickly rushed to comment their love for the new arrival back in July, with EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer writing: “Omg grandpa no way!!! That’s amazing. I bet it’s beautiful. Congratulations Chloe & Declan & baby Mimi. It’s great to hear wonderful news.”
Danny Dyer, meanwhile, penned: “You’re gonna love it son!”
I’m a Celeb star Dean revealed to The Sun that he wouldn’t hesitate to contact his Albert Square pal for grandparenting advice, admitting: “I’m so proud. Lots of my mates are becoming dads, but I’m a grandad at the same age.
“The only person I know who’s in the same boat as me is Danny Dyer, who has a grandchild at 43. I’ll be calling him for tips. We could do grandaddy day care together.”
Dean admitted he won’t be changing nappies any time soon, but has clearly fallen head over heels for his adorable granddaughter.
