Dotty Cotton was famously the daughter of Nasty Nick, but in shocking scenes, she found out all is not what it seems.
EastEnders viewers witnessed a wild twist which saw Dotty find out the true identity of her dad – and it’s not the one she has believed for all of her life.
Shortly after Dotty exposed Rocky as Tom Cotton, she confronted her mum about the lies that were brewing between them – so Sandy decided to share her own secret.
Shouting in the Square – just like Kat and Zoe did way back when – Sandy told Dotty: “Since we’re confessing things, I think it’s time you heard my secret. This Rocky, of course he ain’t Sonia’s dad. He’s yours.”
Dotty immediately shut it down and said: “What? You’re lying,” which prompted Sandy to ask her if she sees the family resemblance.
Her daughter chirped: “No. How? When?”
However, instead of answering her questions, Dotty was merely left with a “Merry Christmas, sweetheart”, rather than any information on the cruel twist brought to her on Christmas Day.
Shouting after her mum, Dotty said: “Mum are you being serious? Is this real? Mum!”
Taking to Twitter, some viewers were as shocked as Dotty, with one user writing: “Uncle Tom is Dotty’s dad?! Nasty Nick must be turning in his grave.”
Another said: “Wow what a plot twist with Dotty’s dad being rocky.”
A third said: “Since when was Nick not Dotty’s dad?!”
The devastating revelation comes after Dotty exposed Tom as not being Sonia’s dad, while Tom immediately urged Sonia that although he had lied, he had started to see her as a daughter.
He was also dating Cathy, and she was left utterly devastated by the bombshell he dropped on her too.
Prior to the bombshell, the family were having a lovely – if not last minute – Christmas dinner together, but after Dotty found out that Rocky was the one who found her mum after her overdose, she was left fuming.
As Rocky proposed a toast around the Christmas table to family, Dotty watched him with daggers and decided she couldn’t deal with his lies anymore.
She told everyone that Rocky is Tom Cotton and explained everything to a gutted Sonia.
After the family all went their separate ways to take in the news, Dotty received her own bombshell, but will this bring the family together? Or tear it apart even further…
EastEnders returns tomorrow on BBC One.
