First look at Sheridan Smith's devastating crash scene as star is 'lucky to be alive'

Sheridan Smith has reportedly been involved in a terrifying car crash, with her Range Rover hitting a tree during bad weather caused by Storm Arwen.

The Gavin & Stacey star was driving on a country road near her home in Essex when the accident happened on Saturday, reported The Sun.

Photos from the scene show parts of the vehicle tangled up in the trees along the side of the road.

A neighbour told the publication that Sheridan suffered minor injuries and was “lucky to be alive”.

“It could have been so much worse,” they continued. “Her car was stuck in the tree, it was a really bad crash.”

The neighbour said it was an “incredibly tight bend” anyway, and that conditions would have been worse during the storm.

They continued: “It could have been so much worse, she had cuts and bruises, but it could have been fatal, she was incredibly lucky. It was a brand new Range Rover, she hasn’t had it long. It’s almost a miracle she’ not hurt herself more.”

It is understood that Sheridan managed to get home after the accident and that the police were then contacted.

The pictures from the scene appear to show that the luxury car suffered significant damage in the smash.

Fragments of the Range Rover can be seen, including a light and what looks like a large segment of the roof.

The Cilla star – who is mum to 18-month-old son Billy with former beau Jamie Horn – has not yet commented publicly on the scary accident, though concerned fans have come out in support for the star.

One wrote that the news “made my blood run cold. Hope you’re ok honey. Your guardian angel was definitely with you!!”

As another said: “Thinking of you!”

Her latest Instagram snaps, which were shared at the weekend, show her singing with Take That heartthrob Gary Barlow.

She captioned the sweet post: “Link in my bio! Loved working with this gent @officialgarybarlow buy his album out now!”

The Daily Star has contacted Essex Police and a representative for Sheridan for comment.
