Gilmore Girls cast now – Meghan Markle link, co-star lovers and assault arrest

Gilmore Girls is an American comedy-drama series that stars the likes of Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel – who turns 40 today (September 16) – and the hilarious Melissa McCarthy.

The autumnal-themed show first hit our screens on October 5, 2000, and ran for seven seasons, the final season coming to a close on May 15, 2007.

There are two main characters in the series: mum Lorelai Gilmore and her teenage daughter Rory.

But where are the Gilmore Girls and the other stars now? Here at Daily Star we take a look at what the cast of the show are up to today.

Lauren played the role of Lorelai for all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, and led the cast as main character.

She was nominated for 12 awards for her role in the popular comedy, but only won two awards in total for playing the role of Lorelai.

Familiar with the role of single mum, she played another mother on the show Parenthood from 2010 until 2015.

In 2016, she reprised her role as Lorelai for the four-part Netflix revival before going on to star in Vampirina, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

She has been dating her Parenthood co-star Peter Krause since 2010. They first met in 1995 when they appeared in Caroline in the City. They currently live together in LA.

Kimberly’s first TV appearance was in Gilmore Girls, where she burst onto our screens as the delightful teen, Rory.

Since Gilmore Girls ended in 2007, she’s had a super successful career and racked up a number of film and TV credits.

In 2012 she appeared on Mad Men, as well as starring in the series Us & Them.

In 2016, she reprised her role as Rory for the Netflix reboot.

Starting in 2017 she played Emily Malek in The Handmaid’s Tale.

Bledel and fellow former Gilmore Girls co-star Milo Ventimiglia were in a relationship from December 2002 to June 2006

In 2012, Bledel began dating Vincent Kartheiser, whose character, Pete Campbell, shared scenes with her character Beth Dawes, during her guest-starring run on Mad Men.

The couple announced their engagement in March 2013 and married in California in June 2014.

In May 2016, it was revealed that Bledel gave birth to their first child, a son, in the fall of 2015.

Kelly Bishop already had an impressive (and long) list of film and TV credits before starring in Gilmore Girls.

In 1986 she starred in Dirty Dancing and in 1995 she popped up in Café Society.

When Gilmore Girls ended, Kelly became a regular fixture in both Bunheads and The Good Wife.

She then reprised her role of Emily Gilmore in 2016 and later starred in The Salzburg Story and Halston.

She was married to TV personality Lee Leonard from 1981 until his death in 2018.

Melissa Ann McCarthy

The hilarious Melissa McCarthy’s career was kickstarted after starring in Gilmore Girls for seven seasons and Lorelai’s best friend.

When the show ended in 2007, Melissa’s career went from strength to strength and she landed roles in box office smash hits like Bridesmaids, This Is 40 and Identity Thief.

In 2005, McCarthy married Ben Falcone, who she’s worked with on numerous projects. They share two daughters, Vivian and Georgette.

On June 28, 2019, it was announced that McCarthy was in talks to play Ursula in Disney’s upcoming film The Little Mermaid, set to be directed by Rob Marshall. On February 18, 2020, McCarthy confirmed her casting as the villainess during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Falcone often makes cameo appearances in McCarthy’s movies and TV series, such as a third-season episode of Gilmore Girls, The Nines, Bridesmaids, The Heat, Tammy, Identity Thief, Spy, The Boss, Life of the Party, The Happytime Murders, and Can You Ever Forgive Me?.

More recently, in August 2021, Melissa joined the 40×40 campaign launched by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex to mark her 40th birthday.

The 40×40 is a campaign that asks people around the world to spend 40 minutes of their time mentoring women reentering the workforce and combating the outsized economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women.

When she’s not acting, she’s writing, and wrote No Mistakes: A Perfect Workbook for Imperfect Artists in 2018.

She’s been married to musician Shin Kawasaki since 2005 and currently plays NYPD medical examiner Dr Edrisa Tanaka on FOX’s crime drama Prodigal Son.

His character was a firm fan-favourite, but he sadly left the show in 2005.

Shortly after leaving the popular show that rocketed him to fame, he began playing Sam Winchester in Supernatural — from 2005 to 2020.

He has also been seen in horror movies House of Wax and Friday the 13th.

In 2010, Jared got hitched to Genevieve Cortese, who has three children with.

In Austin, Texas in October 2019, he was arrested and later charged with two misdemeanour counts of assault after being reportedly booked for public intoxication.

Reflecting on the alleged incident in 2020, he said: “I haven’t had a drink since… that is not who I am.”

Scott Gordon Patterson

In 2016, he joined his former co-stars for the Gilmore Girls Netflix revival.

He recently launched his Gilmore Girls retrospective podcast, I Am All In.
