Girls Aloud reunion plans on hold after Sarah Harding’s death, says Kimberley Walsh

Kimberley Walsh has revealed that plans for a Girls Aloud reunion have been put on hold following the devastating death of Sarah Harding.

The pop star tragically passed away on September 5 at the age of 39 after a battle with breast cancer and her bandmates have decided to put reunion plans on the back burner while they mourn the loss of their friend.

There had been rumours that the girl group would reunite to mark their 20th anniversary next year, but speaking to The Sun, Kimberley admitted that none of them were in the right “headspace” to think about a reunion.

The star told the publication: “It’s not really something we’re even thinking about obviously, with the situation as it is. No one is even in that headspace right now.”

She added that the group – made up of Kimberley, Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle – had become even closer than ever, with Nadine moving back to London, near to Kimberley.

“She’s back in London now, and lives really close to me. It’s nice that I’ve seen her a lot more over the past couple of years,” said Kimberley.

She plans to reunite with the rest of Girls Aloud next month, when she celebrates her 40th birthday and spoke of her desire to live her life to the fullest as she moves into her fourth decade.

She explained: “You’ve just got to cherish every moment. I don’t know what my forties will bring but going into a new decade is quite a big thing.”

It comes after a source close to the band claimed that they are planning to hold a concert in memory of Sarah, after being inspired by Tom Parker and The Wanted’s Stand Up To Cancer gig.

“It’s bittersweet, of course. They’ve all been through the most devastating news and it’s beyond tragic,” the insider told The Sun at the time.

“But when the time is right they’d love to see a concert in Sarah’s memory. It would be hugely emotional for everyone involved, but it feels like a wonderful thing to do after everyone had hoped they might be able to do it together.”
