Gogglebox fans in hysterics as they notice Ellie and Izzi's odd food habit

Gogglebox fans have been left laughing after noticing cast members Ellie and Izzi Warner have a very specific food-related habit.

The Leeds sisters returned to screens on Friday night as the brand new series of the Channel 4 show premiered after a few months off.

And one of the siblings’ conversations immediately caught the attention of viewers at home, who rushed to Twitter to laugh about it.

Before an emotional segment about groundbreaking Channel 4 show It’s A Sin, Ellie and Izzi had a chat about Spam.

Mum-of-two Izzi told her sister: “I had a Spam sandwich the other day and then I put the remaining Spam in the fridge and it’s been in the back of mu mind that that Spam’s there, and I thought, ‘Well, I can’t throw it away.'”

Seeming hesitant, she went on: “Surely it’s not alright?”

But Ellie told her: “Izzi, it’s Spam, it’ll be fine.”

While Izzi appeared unsure, Ellie went on: “It probably lasts for years in that tin.”

Izzi exclaimed: “In the tin, yeah! But I’ve taken it out of the tin.”

Wanting to reassure her sister, Ellie replied: “Yeah, but if you’ve put it in an airtight container, what’s a week in the fridge?

“Bloody hell, Spam would survive a nuclear war.”

And it seems that was what Izzi wanted to hear, as she threw her head back and said: “Thank the Lord!”

Viewers were quick to pick up on the chat, after remembering the sisters have spoke about the polarising food in previous series too.

“I just love Ellie and Izzi’s conversations about Spam,” one viewer said.

Tagging the official Spam account, another wrote: “I want to start a petition for Izzi and Ellie, Spam needs to sponsor them as the amount of times they have it and name it is amazing, let’s make it happen.”

A third tweeted: “I love the way Izzi and Ellie always talk about food, my type of gals.”

Someone else wondered: “Are Ellie and Izzi ambassadors for Spam or what?”

A fifth laughed: “I think Ellie and Izzi like Spam.”

While a sixth clueless viewer said: “Sometimes I watch Ellie and Izzi and wonder if I live in another country. Spam?”

For those who have never heard of the questionable food, Spam is a canned, cooked meat made from ground up bits of pork and ham, with added preservatives and flavourings.

The sisters often talk about Spam – and the tinned meat clearly has a special place in their heart.

In December, Ellie confessed she had spent £27 on a red Spam tin Christmas bauble.

And back in 2016, they discussed how they had lied about having Spam for breakfast instead of bacon, with the brand even sharing the clip on their Facebook page.
