Hollyoaks star Scarlett Bowman has rushed her two-year-old son Rafael to hospital after a terrifying accident at home left him potentially scarred for life.
The actress, 35, who played Maddie Morrison on the hit Channel 4 soap until 2012, described the terrifying ordeal on Instagram alongside a picture of Rafael with a bandage on, saying: “We had a very scary accident on Friday night just before bath time.”
She went on to detail the circumstances of the incident, explaining that he fell into a coffee table.
“My poor bubba fell into our almost baby proofed glass coffee table and had to be rushed to hospital.
“No ambulance was available for up to an hour (could have been longer we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes and jumped in a cab),” she added.
She went on: “He needed surgery to repair it but as he is recovering from a respiratory virus he was not able to have it (thank god).
“We are safe back home and resting but he will have one heck of a scar. Any scar treatments pls let me know!”
Scarlett concluded: “The scariest thing about the whole episode was that we couldn’t get an ambulance when we need it.
“Thank you Dr Cyrus for coming to our rescue.”
The terrifying ordeal comes five months after the star gave birth to her second child with husband Rob Colicci.
The actress revealed the delightful news by sharing a sweet picture of her newborn sleeping soundly in her cot.
Sharing the name of her little girl, she wrote in the caption: “Juno Rose Colicci. Arrived earth side on 08.06.21 weighing 7 and a half pounds. We are in loveeee.”
Scarlett also shared a second photo, where she cradled baby Juno as Rob smiled brightly. Alongside this image, she paid tribute to her husband Rob Colicci.
“Welcome to this crazy world little lady @robcolicci is our hero for looking after us we love you,” Scarlett added.
The pair tied the knot in a historic church in Portofino, Italy in 2016, with the actress’s former Hollyoaks co-star Lucy Jane Dixon joining Emily VanCamp and Joshua Bowman among the guests.
Scarlett was a mainstay in Hollyoaks but said goodbye to the soap in 2012 when her character was killed in a bus crash.
Since leaving Hollyoaks, Scarlett has turned her hand to artwork, creating the brand Projects On Walls.
The company focuses on “sourcing and curating art for residential and commercial interiors”.
