Inside Adele's showbiz circle – EastEnders star, One Direction hunk and music legend

Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Adele’s highly anticipated new album, and ever since the release of her debut 19 in 2008, she has become friends with some of the biggest celebrities in the world.

Comedian Alan Carr is a close friend of the singer, with Adele becoming ordained to officiate the wedding of Alan and partner Paul Drayton, while another of her oldest friends is Robbie Williams’ wife Ayda Field.

Here we look at some of the celebrities who are part of Adele’s showbiz inner circle – from soap actors to music legends and Hollywood Oscar winners to A-list neighbours.

Adele has a long friendship with ex-EastEnders actor Sid Owen, who has also invited her to his wedding to girlfriend Victoria Shores.

The actor, known to soap lovers across the country as Ricky, first met the singer through her ex-husband Simon Konecki, who is Sid’s best friend, and the pair have been friends ever since.

He also revealed to The Sun that he was the best man at Adele and ex-husband Simon’s wedding, and that although the couple are not together anymore, “they are actually still really good friends, they still get on well”.

Like Adele, Harry Styles is a global sensation, so it’s not surprising that the two eventually found their way into each other’s circle.

Having met in 2015 ahead of the release of his first solo album Sign of the times, rumours of romance between the two circulated after they were spotted on holiday in the Caribbean in 2020.

However, although Harry denied rumours of any romance after being quizzed by radio DJ Howard Stern, he has previously admitted to having a crush on the singer, when at the age of 17 he said: “She makes me weak at the knees.”

The thought of an Adele and Lady Gaga duet is enough to make any pop fan excited, and talk of a duet is exactly how the two singers met back in 2014.

At the time, a source told the Daily Star that they regularly spoke on the phone and that they planned to work together on a duet in Los Angeles.

However, the duet sadly didn’t happen, but the two have been seen hanging out together at the Grammy Awards in 2017 and have worked on studio sessions together, with Lady Gaga sharing a photo of one session on Instagram, captioned: “Nothing like a Wednesday night bro-down with the beautiful Adele.”

Adele often gushes about her admiration for Nicole in her Instagram posts, including one sweet post from the socialite’s 40th birthday.

The singer captioned the photo: “I admire you and love you so much. You are the epitome of self preservation, self love and absolute savagery!”

Elton John and Adele’s friendship didn’t get off to quite the start she expected, when Adele thought a call from the music legend was a prank.

After realising that it was actually Elton John on the phone, he congratulated on her on her success at the Grammy Awards.

The two have been friends since then, with Adele posting a sweet photo on Instagram after she sent apologies for missing Elton John’s wedding to David Furnish in 2014, captioned: “Biggest congratulations my loves.

“Have a wonderful day. I’m sorry we are not there. See you in 2015. Love Adele, Simon and Angelo. x.”

From one chart topping superstar to another, Adele and Taylor Swift first met after Adele attended Swift’s Reputation tour in London in 2018.

After grabbing a selfie together, the two have remained friends, with Adele telling Time magazine: “I love her – how powerful she is.

“We’ll get lumped together now because of it, but I think we would both feel the ability to say yes or no to things even if we weren’t successful.”

Jennifer Lawrence

Both Oscar winners, Adele and Jennifer Lawrence became friends at the Awards Ceremony in 2013, as well as being neighbours.

Jennifer Lawrence told Time Magazine in 2016: “Adele is a gift, an international treasure, but she’s also sweet, funny, intelligent and beautiful. B***h.”

The two have regularly been spotted out together, including at a drag show in New York and alongside another Hollywood A-lister, Cameron Diaz, at the Los Angeles Womens March in 2018.
