Inside Lisa Armstrong's secret singing career – Corrie duet to Smash Hits tour romance

Lisa Armstrong is a make-up artist to the stars, and responsible for the beautiful looks on BBC series Strictly Come Dancing.

However it’s not easy creating some of the stunning looks that viewers see on the show, with Lisa saying that she often spends long hours in the studio.

She told the Royal Television Society: “On a Saturday, we start at 8:30am and wrap at 11.30pm. During the day, the celebs and their partners are constantly rehearsing and whizzing around the dance floor: the rollers are flying out, the lip-gloss is getting smudged and the eyelashes are hanging off.”

She has worked as a make-up artist for some of the biggest shows on TV, but before she was a make-up artist, Lisa had a secret singing career in a hit nineties pop group.

Lisa Armstrong was one of music’s rising stars in the nineties, as part of pop group Deuce, before going on to work as a make-up artist.

Known for their songs including Call it Love and I Need You, they had four top 30 singles in the UK, along with appearing on charity single The Gift of Christmas for Childline, alongside stars including Peter Andre, Dannii Minogue and Boyzone.

They even sang on the Coronation Street anniversary album, where they duetted with actress Sherrie Hewson on the song, Life on the Street.

After their original singer left, the band had some chart success in Australia too, before splitting up in 1996.

Lisa Armstrong met ex-husband Ant McPartlin, when Deuce were performing on the 1994 Smash Hits music tour.

Ant and Dec were then known as PJ and Duncan, linking back to their big break in hit CBBC series Byker Grove and performing hits including Let’s get ready to Rumble during the tour.

Both PJ and Duncan and Deuce performed at the Smash Hits Poll Winner’s party.

From there, Ant, then 17, and Lisa, then 18, later began dating and went on to be together for 23 years.

The couple married in 2006, but divorced in 2018, with Ant going on to date his personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett.

Lisa has also found love with boyfriend James Green, sharing a photo of their beautiful home and festive decorations in a snap on Instagram, saying: “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

Deuce Reunion

Fans went into meltdown back in 2019 when Lisa sparked rumours that Deuce could possibly get back together for a reunion.

One Twitter user said, “If there’s one pop band who need to make a return in 2019 it’s @deuce_pop.”

Lisa liked the comment, leading fans to speculate whether the hit nineties band will get back together, following in the footsteps of other huge bands who have reunited recently including Five and The Venga Boys.

With the popularity for nineties nostalgia growing, who knows what the future could hold.

Fans will have to wait and see whether Deuce will finally get back together after all this time.
