Joey Essex is furious after being duped into promoting a £500,000 bitcoin venture that has turned out to be a massive scam.
EATS Coin, said to be linked to CrytoEats, lured punters into investing cash into the food delivery app but it has now since disappeared, it has been reported.
Its social media is down, as well as its website and anyone trying to use it just gets an error message, The Sun claimed.
Last week, TOWIE favourite Joey, 31, attended the flash London Reign Club in Mayfair with fellow celebs DJ Charlie Sloth, 40, and Love Island star Belle Hassan, 23, to back EATS Coin.
One Twitter user shared a message CryptoEats is said to have sent subscribers claiming it was hacked.
Joey was seen at the club wearing a CrytoEats cap and partying with Belle.
But since it has been reported the company is a dud, Joey has said he is “fuming” and that it’s “disgusting”.
He told The Sun: “I do tons of appearances. It’s difficult to vet everybody and this seemed like a legit brand.
“It was all done in good faith, but I feel terrible for people who have lost out.”
His manager Dave Read added: “Joey was half thinking of investing himself, it sounded genuine. He feels awful.”
Similarly, Charlie Sloth was seen with CrytoEats merch and Persian beauty blogger Mandi Vakili, who has nearly 300,000 followers, with both posting some pictures of the event.
